Subject: How do I get rid of the over smoothing

This is a model I created in Lightwave, I wish to make this available to poser users but first the oversmoothing needs to be addressed. How can this be resolved. The mesh is an exported obj file that displays fine while in Lightwave but gets too soft in poser.

Take the OBJ into UVmapper (free) and "split" the verts. The edges will be crisp after that. UVmapper Pro (not free) can do this based on the crease angle for more acuracy.

Damn, that does not sound good as it needs a degree of smoothing, else the rounded corners on the wings will become jagged and the wheels not be smooth. But this is Way too much.

This is the Lightwave render

Well try it and see what happens. Maybe separate the areas you don't want to be split.

If you feel up to a bit more work in Lightwave, bevel the edges that you don't want smoothed.

OK it worked rather well I just have to apply UV to the stick and the rubberband as, seems like psoer needs UV to get a texture on the surface.

That is a nice model. Just brought back childhood memmories, I spent most of my cash as a kid on those things. Nice work. Tashar 59

What Poser needs is a maximum smoothing angle like Bryce has.

I made one of those for an old Rhino contest but I must say, I like your better, more realistic! Great modeling job!

pnevai, I'm glad that was a Lightwave render and that you weren't really flying one of those in Yosemite Valley. You don't know how it feels to be a climber and hear an airplane below you. (This actually happened during the Vietnam conflict... those flyboys would go through the Valley and hope to pullup before they hit HalfDome.) Anyway, that is a cute model and will gleefully be added to my toy collection. :) Carolly
