I am not completely satisfied with this pic, about the textures of blade, and gold of the cross. But the shadows look smooth, done with 2 spotlights soften 34 for direct light, an other indirect light hiting a huge dome with a picture on it to gives the atmosphere. Shadow of ground material is soften, Yves

Looks good Yves. Real nice soft shadows. :) Still though, one of the big key things about true global illumination/radiosity, is that objects will also infuse other objects with their own color. So, there would be a good chance that the gold color in the handle would show up at least a little on the ground. Like if you place a bright red ball on a piece of white paper; The shadow will have a reddish tint to it. What do you mean about the picture on the dome for the atmosphere?

This looks very good, Yves! I haven't had any luck with indirect lighting, but I always keep trying to use it anyway. Old carryover from photography. grin

thanks for the comments, maybe I will try to add other colored lights in the scene, in the same time I will try to change some textures. Concerning the dome, this is just an half of sphere object (very large, surrounding the scene, so you can not see it on the picture), with a mapped picture. The material of the dome is done with high level of diffuse and ambient, so it emits a large amount of "light" and the color of the objects in the scene are modified, as they were in a real environment, even in a very basic scene with only one or two objects. I don't know if my explanations are clear :) Yves

Objects in Vue can't become light sources, so I don't think the dome is actually contrubuting to the lighting. I don't think using bounce lighting will work either since that is a part of what real GI calculates. Now, maybe something off camera for the sword to reflect might be a good idea. Also, instead of the colored lights, you could try adding a small amount of blurred reflection to the ground plane to cheat the colored shadows. Rich
