hello all, for some reason when i open any file other than the native PSD., and then try to manipulate it in any way, it sometimes crashes, there is no reason i can see that it crashes ,and it happens unpredictably, sometimes an image will crash it and other times the same image will be fine???? i cannot figure it out and it limits what i can do. any help would be appreciated.

Do you have enough disk space on your hard drive?

What OS are you running, and have you tried re-installing the program?

For any reason, did you mess with the directory files or Filter, plug-Ins, maybe it searches for something that is no longer installed!!.

dope!! i think you may have found one of the problems, but would that effect my being able to bring other formats into a PSD document?

The file format filters are located in the plugins folder... on my system, gif and png are in "Plugins - Adobe Photoshop Only - File Formats", and "Plugins - File Formats" holds bmp, pcx, photo cd, targa, and others.
