Subject: Out of memory

Hello, I have had Poser 4 since early July, and today I got a message that I was out of memory. First time I ever got that message. It says to allocate more memory for Poser. I am using a Pc with windows98 and don't know how to do that. One thing: I was trying to use the posable rope when it happened. (trying to load it). I tried to load something else and it loaded fine. I have plenty of disk space. Could it be the rope or something else? Thanks, Bill

Did you install the Patch? Now I find if I load something that has a misplaced .obj or texture link in the .cr2 or whatever I get an out of memory error. It really means nothing, i click throught it and continue. If you haven't installed the patch, I am not sure what the problem may be. -Trav

Trav, No, I haven't installed the patch. I think I have had the problem once before when I tried to load something that was not correct. (I believe a prop) I deleted it from my system and haven't had the problem until now. I may try that now and see what happens. Thanks Bill

I had that problem with poser3 when I called the tech advisor he said I would have to hit control, alt, delete at the same time and eliminate some of the other programs I had running at the same time try this. What I eventually did was just add more memory to my computer about 32bits which put me up to 64bits. I haven't had the problem since. asmith

I have that problem running a 450mhz PC with 192 megs of ram. I think poser4 has a little bug in it cause it even sometimes happens when I close everything using ctr/alt/del except systray and explorer. cant find the patch so I guess I'll just hope they repost or make another one soon. In the meantime I just save often.

Reboot usually clears out of memory problem. poser is a resource hog. You may also try replacing the original rsr file (with the .obj in the geometries folder)

I have found that certain characters downloaded from the net will do this. Most notably the high res poser woman and Nitrane's Sarenna Lee figures....AND they may cause this problem as long as they are loaded into your library....did you download any particular characters before you started getting this problem...try moving them out of the library or deleting them and possibly that will help.... I have a little utility called RAMpage that puts itself in the system tray and when you double click it, it frees up memory. I got it from a magazine cover disk, but it may be at a free software resource like www.tucows.com etc. It might help.

You can get it from www.jfitz.com

Raven, thanks a lot, I believe the biggest part of my problem was the poseable rope. Other people said they had the same trouble with it, but on my way to jfitz.com. Bill
