Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 08 12:39 am)
That would help only slightly. I have like 50 folders for just Vicki clothes, and each only has about one item in it. And instead of being called things like "thigh boots," they are all the name of the person who made the item, and it's very easy to forget that folder "JohnDoe" has gloves in it, not pants. It would take me all day to actually go through and move/rename everything.
I agree that the Runtime folder is getting crazy. What I need is something that will let me move a file and go alter all the files that point to that item so that it doesn't break. So if I move a texture, go check my mat poses and so on and fix it. Yes, this is a pain in teh rear to code, but nothing that reasonable HTML tools arent already doing... if I move/rename a file in dreamweaver it updates ll my links in all my pages.
I am currently writing this program as mentioned in previous threads. POSER BOOOST allows you to organise "banks" or categories of library items which can be switched between while Poser runs... for instance, you can split up your "poses" library into an infinite number of banks and can access bite-size chunks at the click of a button. I have a working version written in Envelop which is not distributable....(bad RAD tool!) currently re-writing in Delphi. It is a Win only app I'm afraid. In approx 1 week I will need beta testers! (ducks!) In two weeks I hope to have the app up on the site. Any questions or further suggestions please post here and I'll reply!! ... Please be patient... ... It'll be here soon! Ta, Howard.
Your library files (CR2, PP2, PZ2, HR2 etc.) can go in any folder in the appropriate lib. without breaking amything - it's only the OBJ file that must go where the reference says, and textures can be a pain if Poser can't find them (but I stick mine in an item-specific sub-folder of a Textures subfolder of the library subfolder, along with the readme and licence files, and Poser rarely chokes). You can also rename these files freely, as long as the file and its RSR/PNG match.
When you currently need just one clothes, one Pose or one attitude for your Poser scene I don't see the need to have scores of folders under Poser directory. I would prefer store them appart and grab them when needed. Poser is lighter this way. The problem is to find back the files when needed and to copy them to Poser (with accompanying files) but first to find them back. I'm working on the subject too but I'll probably fix the copy back one first.

Varp... That's exactly what PoserBooost does. Please see the link for more info!CR2Edit5 will delete CR2's and their associated files automatically, for those files that have you saying "Now why did I download THAT?!" (No, it won't dump OBJ's that may be shared without asking you first) It will also move CR2's and their ass. files (including testures) to a backup folder system, to help clear the clutter, drag/drop to return. CR2Edit6 automates the restore practice as well. Dan http://www.zenwareonline.com for CR2Edit, ZenPaint, ZenTile, VueMaster and the complete line of Zenware graphics apps
It seems the guys will at last get what they want. I think PoserBooost and CR2Edit give the right answer. This purpose will be covered by the P3dO PC Installer plugin. It's a long time need, one of the reasons I wrote that tool for but I spent too much time making it an explorer. hogwarden, thanks for the link I was looking for this thread yesterday I just discover PoserBooost.

Does anybody else have the problem that you've collected so much Poser stuff that you can never find anything because everything is listed in its own folder? Would somebody consider making a program that lets you move things easily? For example, you could stick all of Vicki's clothes in one folder, and this program would do all moving and make sure all your textures don't get messed and stuff. I mean, wouldn't it be great to have all your iris MATs in one place and still have them work? Anyway, this is just a suggestion for something I feel would be very helpful.
