Subject: Michael Hair

Jcleaver ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2002 at 8:45 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 3:11 PM

I am looking for hair for Michael. I went to Daz, didn't see anything I particularly liked, searched here, and all I can seem to find is hair for Vicky. Lots of nice hair for Vicky. However, I don't think Mike would appreciate those hairstyles! LOL. I could be wrong tho ....

you have one very nice hairmodel for Michael here

Jcleaver ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2002 at 10:16 AM

Thanks. Actually, that is the one I now have, and I do like it. I am still looking for a little more variety I guess. I just wish someone would create a hair prop for Mike that is as versatile as the ones for Vicky, ie Harvey Mann's Gypsy Hair, etc.

Try the "Digital Babes" link listed in the right column (I think that's Kozaburo's site). He has one or two nice transmapped Michael hair pieces. Scarab

No, there are not enough male hair styles, but it's getting better. Not long ago all the guys, and a lot of the fems, wore the wedge cut. DAZ has a new curly one on introductory sale. Someone recently posted pics here of a standard side-part short style they were working on. What style are you looking for? Your first name isn't June, is it? (Beaver's mom)

Jcleaver ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2002 at 12:35 PM

I'm surprised that even though I don't post often here, that no one had asked if my first name was June before now. LOL. No, it isn't June. I was just hoping to find one that could morph into several different styles, like I have seen for Vicky. I did look at DAZ and saw those, and I did think about the wedge cut, but the new curly one doesn't appeal to me at all. I'll probably have to download the free p4 converter from DAZ, though the default hair for P4 seems too fake for my taste. Scarab -- I do have the Gonbei hair from there. That is the only one that I could find.

Daz3D just released a great African-American style hair.

Try the Mike hair of Lourdes (search for Lourdes). It has morphs at freestuff and colormaps at freestuff.

Thank you, TalmidBen for posting an extreme version of the short curls hair, I was about to pass on it when I saw the conservative examples. That Is the short curls hair, isn't it??

Petunia ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2002 at 2:20 PM

try Kozaburo's morph hair and the Kyoko hair for guys too.. these are highly morphable and actually do a good job if you play with them. The culy hair mentioned as newly released is very morphable as well and does well on the women and possibly the kids too.

cinnamon ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2002 at 4:00 PM

Daz released Short Curls Hairstyle and not "African-American style hair".

shadowcat ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2002 at 4:09 PM

I thought that would look better as afro-amer hair, didn't look right on white. (which is good, cuz we need more ethnic do's)

gryffnn ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2002 at 4:40 PM

TygerCub is the creator of the side-parted male hair, either search for that name in FreeStuff or search for the recent thread here.

TalmidBen ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2002 at 4:46 PM

Queri, yes it is the short curls hair. I also almost passed on it, but then I knew in the future I would like to have a good African-American hair (the p4 AA hair models are, well, they look kinda like plastic helmets) - and the price right now is extremely reasonable (13.95) - It's hard for me to pay more than 15.00 dollars for hair, so I thought I would act now, and not need to get it later, and pay 20.00 (I know it's only 6 dollars more, but there is something psychological about paying 14 dollars versus 20) Anyway, I'm glad that this helped you out. (Daz released Short Curls Hairstyle and not "African-American style hair".) Whether it's intended to be hair that resembles that of African Americans or not, it works well as such, and in fact looks better on black folks in my opinion. My friend Joey had hair like that though, and he was Puerto Rican/white. Ben MessianicArt.com

this hair looks much better on black folk instead of white imo

Basis3D ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2002 at 5:56 PM

Well, nobody's yet mentioned the flat top hair style from DAZ. I've used that with good results. I've also used some of the longer hairstyles designed for Vicki on Michael with good results. Depends on what you need. What I'd like to find is a good long black hair asian/native american style hair prop for Michael. DAZ has one for Vicki but it's a braided style with bands on the ends of the braids. I'd like one without braids. The San Francisco hair I believe is sort of close to what I'm looking for. Has anyone tried it on Michael? Would love to see an example, especially in black. Post it here please! Thanks.

Forgot to mention, the other hairstyle for Michael that I'd love to see is a blond shaggy hair prop...like a rock star look...similar to the DAZ feathered hair but not so damn feathery...more like a blond dirty masculine shag longhair style. Anyone know of something that would work well on Michael?

Jcleaver, I like the Bangs Cut for Michael at DAZ very much - as well as the Flat Top Hair. Both have good morphs for the range of their styles. They don't morph to completely different styles necessarily. But I find the Bangs Cut to be pretty versatile. I have most of the Michael hair from Daz and am pleased with them all - the trick is to get them when their discounted - I reason with myself that in the end, I'll probably get the item and I might as well get it while it's discounted... Also I've used the Gel Cut for Vicky with success on Mike - gives him a kind of funky, pop star-ish look. As Creations said above, Lourdes' Mike Hair is also interesting and free and there are good textures for it. And also as mentioned, Kozaburo's site has the Gonbei hair for Mike, which requires a little playing with and tweaking of the dials I think to get it looking good - but it's also nice and free.

Here are some Mike Hairstyles.

Jcleaver ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2002 at 9:07 PM

Thanks, it does help to see everything side-by-side! Now, I need to find one hair system that will morph to all of those! 8-) I know, I'm dreaming!

You're dreaming a good dream! How about the "Millinneum Hair" - that would be great. However, Anton's Morphing Beard w/Hair and the Blunt cut at Daz rocks!

yes it does look better on ethnic characters. i'd like to see more ethnic hair, too. but i went to the link looking for african american hair and saw that it was short curls. i like the short curls and i think i will buy it. but i really like these hair styles i came across, they look so realistic. i'm not sure how they created it, but they did a great job! check out the link to the gallery image. wow, Anton's morphing beard and hair does look awesome. Talmidben, i hope you post your Huck Finn and Jim by the river image when you get done? it sounds like that will be a fun image to create. good luck!

TalmidBen ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2002 at 11:38 PM

Whoa! Cinnamon, that hair you posted looks awesome! Where did you get/find that?! Yes, I hope to have a fun image of Huck and Jim. They are hilariously funny in Huck Finn.

I don't think this hair style need be an "ethnic" only type. I see plenty of men of all colors with wooly sheep type of hair.
