Subject: Help - Can't import a Poser Figure in Bryce!

I have a figure I made in poser, but I can't import it into bryce. I export it as a wavefront OBJ, but When I try to import it, I get the following message: "An unexpected error has occured (invalid Format)" In general, I can import wavefront objects, but this one can't seem to be imported. The figure is highly detailed and covered in 3ds Props, but that shouldn't matter. Any ideas?

Not sure if this will help (obviously) but when I use a Poser model in Bryce I usually export as a DXF file. Hope that helps some.

I encountered the same error message using the P4 patch to export a poser character (ultramorphwoman2) as a wavefront object. Turned out the the obj file written by poser had a size of zero bytes and when imported to bryce was obviously garbage. I was not able to resolve this export problem, but have been able to export poser characters and import them into bryce when they did'nt have many morph targets applied.

I've had similar messages from Bryce - usually then there's a parented 3ds prop or a ton of morph targets attached. Try setting the morphs as you wish, then spawning one MT and deleting all the others. I've not had the problem with parented props in 3ds format since I installed the last update from Ghost Effects (not the latest update but the previous one - haven't had chance to install the new one yet) Paul

Whenever the figure has 3DS props there is a chance that it will have an unexpected error ... If I get that I normally export the figure and al the parts that arent 3DS as the OBJ and then export the 3DS props as 3DS. Sometimes it takes a little scaling to reset the figures to match sizes but it isnt normally too bad and it is actually easier to adjust the textures that way if you want to. I have had the problem one other time when Bryce couldnt find one of the textures. It was rather odd but I made it work. Good luck

PS I havent intalled the patches yet so that might solve it ...
