Im horrible at textures and materials in bryce. I tried the classic 'death star' material, and scaled it, changed a few colors and frequency, and tweaked it a little, but it just doesnt look right. : ( modeled in wings3d, took about 3 hours to render..

I've had some very good results with the Steel Cage preset. Remove the transparency filter and then manipulate the colors as desired. You can also change the bump map to BasicTechno 2. Combining the two materials in the diffusion setting can give some more options. Hope that helps, Will

i hope you know how to replicate this "texture". it may not be what you wanted but it has an interesting flavor how did you do it?

Im not sure exactly, all I remember is lowering the ambience, and scaling it by 500% These objects are scaled very big, so If i zoom in, I think the material would start looking like that deathstar preset. Color is coming from ambient and sky settings, if I changed skys, the .mat would change color too.
