Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 18 5:11 pm)
I only have the demo version UP mapper Pro but I've already discovered that if you load a model where some materials have a uv mapping and some don't then you can't map the ones that don't without re-mapping the ones that do. For me personally, that's a big drawback. I don't know if that's what's happening in your case, but it might be. In general, cylindrical mappings are best for tubes, but I find getting the cylinder in the right place is pretty near impossible in UV mapper. I can't see how the shape of the tubes would be the problem. They should work just like anything else. In short: dunno.

Ajax: if it is materials, you probably should map them all as well as you can, just in case. However, you do not need to apply a texture to every material. You can use Poser colors with no texture. You may not do this within a material, unless, the material is defined by more than one group. If it is, you can subdivide a material by group and apply a different, or no texture to it. It is not a matter of having fewer options. Britt: I don't know which modeler you are using, but if it is a vertex modeler, you can pre-map a 2D version of a petal, open it in the modeler and fold it into shape. Do the same for a cylinder - but put a cap on it. (If you don't want it rounded, do not weld, just give the two matching points the identical location - text entry placement.) The map that UVMapper draws will have a lot of connecting lines if you weld the seams, but I don't think it will affect the real mapping. Any other repeating units can be premapped the same way. What you get is the texture - in effect tiled. So you get hi res with a small map. Placing the maps and naming the groups takes practice, especially in RDS, since it does not keep materials, only groups.

I've modelled this daisy, - and have filled the center area with little hollow cylinders. (see pic of model). No matter how I work on it in UV mapper Pro, I can't seem to make them take the yellow color that I assign them to in Poser. Do I have to map them in a different way (mapped spherical), or is it the shape of the little "tubes" that is the problem?? Thanks! Britt
