Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 01 3:31 pm)
I do it this way:- 1) select part to me altered 2) create magnet 3) move magnet in the direction I want the item to go taking no heed to what it looks like at this stage. ie if I want a longer turned up nose I just bring the magnet forward and up abit. 4) position and scale the green Mag Zone sphere on the parts I DO want to move 5) position and scale the red Mag Zone sphere over the parts I DONT want to move. I have found no merit in moving the mag base. I ignore what it looks like till I have completed step (5) If I like what I see I spawn a morph Hope this helps. PhilC pcooke@mis.net
hey... phil, where'd you get green and red mag zones from?? ive heard of inner and outer mat spheres for jp's, but even those dont come in red and green on mine. :) the base is the starting point, or reference point for the distortion. (ie: if you rotate the magnet, what are you rotating it around?) the zone is the falloff area, with the center being the most distortion. and the magnet is NOT a magnet, but a representation of what you are doing to the vertices. (ie: moving, scaling, rotating, etc.) check out those tutorials, they'll make everything clear. :)
Thanks to the above tutorial, I now understand magnets well enough to use them. They are a great feature!

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking. He apologizes for this. He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.
Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below. His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

I'm trying to alter some clothing on a Poser4 figure and someone suggested using magnets. I've been working with it for about 2 hours and am nothing but frustrated. Of course all I have is the useless Poser4 manual to help me.. I looked in the Tutorial section here and couldn't find anything on magnets... Anybody know of any tutorials out there? Also, can anybody reccommend a GOOD book on Poser4? There is so much I want to do with this program and can't seem to figure out the basics!! HELP!!
