Could anyone please tell me how I can export an object I created in Bryce? I can't seem to get it right... Thanx!

terrains ,latice and stones only i'm afraid

Am I right in thinking that if you want to share a boolean object you've made with another Bryce user you can give them a copy of the .brx file that contains the object?

airflamesred ( ) posted Mon, 25 March 2002 at 9:59 AM

yes i think you would have to save the object in the objects pallete and export from there

Aldaron ( ) posted Mon, 25 March 2002 at 12:22 PM

well the .brx is the whole scene so that could work but if you'd like to send just the object you created to another Bryce user then you can save it in presets, export it and send the .obp file to them instead.

So if i get it right, there is no way I can, for example save it to a .OBJ file, for use with UVmapper? 'Cuz i'm not really happy with Bryce's way of handling textures on custom models...

Not if it contains Bryce primitives, booleans, etc. It can import other formats then export them in a different format if none of the none exportable objects from Bryce are added to it. If it contains only meshes and lattices (ie terrain, stones, symetrical lattice) then it can be exported.

has anyone here used world builder? are these just byrce problems? bryce takes this proprietary format thing too far you can't even model 3d environments for use outside the product. all but useless for 3d! - sorry it's just so frustrating so much potential locked up in those .brX files. I think that you would need to export the .obp file.

Make sure that every part of the object is grouped together. While having the object selected, open up the objects palette, select a category and press "Add". Select the added object and press "Export". It will be exported as an .OBJ Done.

Is there anyway to take items built from primatives to Poser? Wade

reddog ( ) posted Sun, 31 March 2002 at 1:56 AM

these problems are why i left bryce mostly not used for over 2 years. every time i needed a .obj file to make a texture it was blocked by no .obj export. would go to user book not there. i knew that i had done it before. then was guided to the FAQ page at the front of this forum and they had a way not eazy but but you can get the .obj file
