Subject: Poser 4 spyware?

Since installing a firewall, I am alarmed to find that Poser 4 secretly attempts Internet access when loaded. I take a rather dim view of this sort of behaviour. Does anyone have more details?

Oh, this has been known for a long time. It isn't spyware. It isn't going back to the company with a record of your secret handshakes and browsing habits and past purchases. It is simply checking to see if you have the same serial number of Poser installed on more than one machine in a local network. Carolly

It's not sending info back to Cl its checking for duplicate copies of Poser runing the same serial number on a network. Its a network thing not an internet thing even though some firewalls may report it as such.

Naw, its not Poser. The reason are those people in the Runtime folder, they try to connect... ugh... Please disregard the lines above. Vicky says everything is ok. Oh, everyone should buy some more clothes and hair for the girls. And shoes, lots of shoes.

I'll third that - all it does is make sure you're not working with multiple copies of Poser with the same Serial Number at the same time in your own network. If so, the copy booting up doesn't start. - no privacy hazard at all.
