Subject: More Parameter dial questions

I've seen the thread on adding dials, and it didn't cover what I wanted to know, so here goes... I'm creating an articulate prop. I've never worked with bones in Poser before, but it's turning out to be an interesting experience. I'm almost ready to submit the item to the marketplace, but in order to make it "user friendly" I'd like to remove some parameter dials from the mix. This will keep people from doing things the object wasn't designed to do, and make the correct dial easier to find/see. Those fonts are awfully hard to read :)Especially with six unnecessary dials jammed in on top of the right one. I know it can be done, as I opened up DAZ's dumpster and they have removed all parameter dials except scaling, and a single rotation dial for open/close on the lid. Same with the vents on the pot-belly stove. Can someone point me to a resource where this is discussed, or give me a quick rundown? PhilC... is any of this discussed in your tutorial CD? I'm ordering it tomorrow regardless Kellee

If you open the Hierarchy Editor and tick the Show Parameters box all the dials for each object will be listed.
Select the dial you don't want shown and press delete. Repeat for other unwanted dials. Be careful.. I recommend that you save to a new file name after you do this.. just in case! Gerald.

PS. You can also rename dials too.

Okay, I'm trying to do what you suggested, but the delete key does nothing. You're not talking about deleting the parameter name, are you? That's not what I was looking for. In the HierEditor, if I click on the wheel shaped icon next to the parameter, it highlights the parameter in white, but I cannot delete it. If I click on the parameter name it opens the naming dialogue and highlights it in black. I can delete this, but it leaves an unnamed wheel on the tool bar. DAZ's articulate props remove the wheel completely, which is what I'm looking for. Hope I'm explaining my problem well enough. I'm doing this on a machine with a low-memory videocard. After trying to delete a parameter when highlighted in white, it seems to lock up the Hierarchy menu and I cannot select anything further. I can close the menu, reopen it and select again, however. Perhaps if you explain your technique in a little more detail I can figure out if I need to switch machines, or whatever. :) Tilandra

Here's an alternative... open the cr2 or pz3 file in a text editor and remove the lines for that particular dial. In the example shown removing the highlighted lines will remove the xScale dial.. as before be careful and save to a new file name!

SUPER! I'm sure this will help tremendously... Thanks :) Tilandra
