Why is it that the image is beautiful and crisp on my computer, but when I post it, it looks terrible? Not always, but most of the time. Is it me? Is it AOL?

I don't see any problems here. Image looks fine to me. I haven't experienced this myself. I know some sites have auto-compression software for image uploads, but I've never seen this happen here. I'm at a loss.

Its AOL. Look under your preferences..there will be soething called compress graphics checked by default..uncheck it. I had this problem with AOl before

AOL itself does have image compression built in. Attached is a link to DigitalBlasphemy.com, where Ryan explains this problem in detail. Hope this helps!

WOW, what a difference a browser makes. Looks awful on AOL. I had stayed away from IE because I was told it spies on you while you are connected. I'll have to check out Netscape. I don't think they spy. Thanks guys. By the way, what do you think of my first character texture?

ElectricAardvark ( ) posted Thu, 28 March 2002 at 6:55 PM

IE does not spy on you.

IE doesn't have spyware, and Netscape loves to crash and give problems. After trying 6 and having it completely hose Windows, I've stayed away from it. We also have Netscape 4.something at work and I hate it. It's IE all the way, and I can't stand Microsoft. :/ Netscape used to be good....

AOL defaults to compressed graphics (compuserve too BTW) fix this by going to your preferences - internet properties

choose web graphics and set to "never compress graphics"
