I took my Dimage 7 out for some real work this morning, first time out for more than just snapshots Subject is the Washington DC Tidal Basin, between 7:30 and 9:30 am. After that time it started getting to crowded to shoot. Im planning on going back this weekend with the Nikon SLR and film for a comparison. Let me know what you think.

Washington Monument The framing between the trees is what caught my eye

Look good. I really like the second one

Nice composition in the first one, the light seems a bit flat for early morning somehow though. Close up 2 is beautiful, lovely soft image.

Nice photographs, I like close up 2 as well and there's good framing of the monument with the trees. :-)>

Thanks for the comments. Im still trying to figure out the quirks on the digi cam. The lighting was very flat in the beginning of my shooting. The day started out very overcast and cleared after about two hours. I should have gone back to the cherry trees after the sky cleared, but I didnt. The problem with shooting in Washington DC is that, even though there is so much to shoot, for $2.00 or so you can get 5 post cards of the same thing. But there is no since of accomplishment when you do that.

I think that's half the fun, trying to capture a different angle on things, or the less obvious that all those postcards miss ; )
