I was reading a posting to the Poser Technical forum by PhilC. Its about magnets, which no way do I understand, but looking at his screen shot I think he has Poser 5 or at least a beta version. Any one know anything?

TygerCub ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 5:21 AM

At first I thought this might be ProPack... but then I saw the "Cloth Motion" tab in the upper right and felt a delicious frision of excitement! If this is P5, I'm sure it's just beta, but this image does seem to mean it's release is closer than we think!!!

Hmm take a closer look at the editing tools and display style, is it just me or does there appear to be a couple of extra icons. Ooops just drooled on the keyboard.

thgeisel ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 6:56 AM

heard they do the programming in india, Maybe thats why the icons look so different?????????

All I know is if Phil is beta testing it, he is definately the one for the job, he will run it through the ringer for us. You go Phil. Sharen

Lirpa Loof I think thats noregian for April Fool

Anthony Appleyard ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 8:11 AM

Lirpa Loof is April Fool with each word written backwards. A lirpa is also a Vulcan weapon in Star Trek. I know it's April 1st today, but here in England we have too much national sadness from the Queen Mother dying, for many to be very tolerant of public media April Fool hoaxes. There seem to be Indians working for Poser. Poser 4's startup lists Sreekant Kotay. Poser 3's startup listed someone called Mowgli Windos :: a familiar name if you have read Rudyard Kipling.

soulhuntre ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 8:33 AM

grin and sigh I was so TOTALLY taken in.

Bug ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 8:36 AM

Click on lirpas name and it seems their real name is April Phoul, actually April in norwiegen is april(no caps in month names)

PhilC ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 9:10 AM

hehehe gotcha :)

There is actually a grain of truth in the sphere/cone thing. What I did will change the Mag Zone to look conical but the magnet's influence is still spherical.

Betcha ya'll fall fur 'nuther one next year :)

I can't believe that many of you were fished in. The first thing I thought was "yeah right, on Apr 1, how convenient..."

Hmmmmmm, maybe I'm a moron, but how did you make that screenshot look so real? Are you SURE your not beta testing P5?

Anthony Appleyard ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 2:16 PM

If they add a horse motion function, they better add a bucket and a shovel to the standard Poser props....

soulhuntre ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 3:37 PM

"The first thing I thought was "yeah right, on Apr 1, how convenient..." In mu defense I have such an odd wake/sleep cycle that the exact date is rarely somethign I keep track of :)

TygerCub ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 3:51 PM

Oh man! I'm gonna cry now. I REALLY wanted P5 to be a "real soon" reality. I'm such a sucker fer this kinda thing... :)

Hiram ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 4:13 PM

"The first thing I thought was "yeah right, on Apr 1, how convenient..." The real joke could be that he actually IS beta testing P5. A good double whammy, huh?

JVRenderer ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 6:38 PM

Tyger - that's what Mama always said those frisions will do to you. Great one, Phil (we used to laugh at the old Soviet photos where some guy out of favor would disappear from photos - now we're all Photoshop magicians). But do we really expect the interface - especially the dial stack - to look the same?

Darn - why do I always fall for those. Thanx, Phil - and may your beard get stuck in a faulty disk drive ;o)

kupa ( ) posted Mon, 08 April 2002 at 1:24 PM

Good job Phil. Nice UI work too. Problem is translating "Cloth Motion" into German, it would likely be three times the length of the phrase in English. Gotta plan for those problems. I'm sad that I wasn't here in the states for 04-01 (was camping with the wife and children in Baja for the week), but glad to see that a Poser joke surfaced though. Kupa
