Subject: New Pic from me (Female Dark Elf Shaman)

My new creation labeled Female Dark Elf Shaman. This pic was my first try to use several terrains and an additional light. This has increased the rendering time to hours (Ouch) and the second light is still not appearing on the screen (But its effect is visible). It seems I have to put it inside of a transparent sphere. Due the high render time I was not able to add more vegetation. (I will have to play around with the second light setting if I can improve the render time.) Seravajan

Good, good...but dark elves have white hair. AND they live in the Underdark, not on the sunlight. Well, except for Drizzt, but let's not go there.

LOL.... sure and Dark Elves can't be Shaman... well not in EverQuest anyhow :/ Bleh who cares... great work :) Axe (Formerly Known as Yargon Yoarashi, Dark Elven Shadowknight, Bertoxxulous) ;)

Nice picture =) Personally I am not caught up in the details of what color her hair should be or whether shaman is a possible class. I just love the water and lighting. Kiera (Formerly Megwedariel, Wood Elf Warrior, Zebuxoruk) =D

I don't think that any of your dark elf pics have looked like dark elves. One looked like a tan woman with blond hair. This one looks more like a sea elf than a dark elf. I think the fact that all your dark elves are stranded on desert islands (rather than lurking around in caves like good dark elves are prone to do) is hurting your cause as well.

Aha! I see there are some addicts like me playing EQ! :) But my pic have nothing to do with EQ. And who said that dark elves have white hair? On one world it may be true, on another world it can be very different. And not every darkelf have to be build after sheme F! :) BTW: In the Elvena Hair from VAIRESH was no black hair template included. Therefore I took brown. Seravajan

here's what comes to my mind when I think of a dark elf. Naturally everyone has their owns opinions, however! :)

Here is a pic of a real (!) darkelf male on the way to get you! ;) The only problem I had is that I did not have any red eyes and no white brows :/ I tried the one from the female models but they was not working. Seravajan

The slim brown tone was coming from a light I forget to change its color. Seravajan

Just change the color of the iris to red and lighten the ambience... (lower the amount of texture on it )it'll end up red and look fine. I do it on dark elf models all the time. Nice texture on the Adventurer Suit. Picture is nice though... nice plants, water, etc.. Anz

Heheh The nice thing about fantasy is, its fantasy.... should't be any rules to it unless you claim it to be "acording" to something, as I see it "Dark Elves" is a general term just as Dwarf or Elf or wathnot. In the Fantasy story I'm working on, Dark Elves are Dark Blue Skinned with either White, Dark Red, Dark Brown or black hair, Red, Ice Blue or Yellow eyes. :) Who cares? :) In Daggerfall they had ash grey skin, in D&D's Forgotten Realms they're called Drow.... Let's just enjoy good artwork :D p.s. Might aswell ad my own DE image to this... picture of Aargon Stormbringer from my story "Stone"

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 5:00 PM

I see most Dark Elves as being normal elves with Dark hair and perhaps Paler skin and a nasty disposition :) But that isn't Drow and all

cyber-organic ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2002 at 5:55 PM

That's the one thing that kinda sucks about most dark elves is that their skin is so dark that you can't see a lot of the detail... Unless, of course, you go with Ghostofmacbeth's idea of a DE, which actually makes more sense for DE's to be pale considering they rarely see the surface, but I digress. What texture is that on the adventurer suit, Ser?

Seravajan ( ) posted Tue, 02 April 2002 at 3:31 AM

I will soon make the character races for my own role playing game. (The bad news about this is, that it is german only.) @Axe Gaijin: Can you not try to apply a brighter background and a brighter front light? Pleez? I can see only the eyes and some armor parts! :) @cyber organic: the texture is from DAZ SSadventurer Mat pack. Seravajan

Axe_Gaijin ( ) posted Tue, 02 April 2002 at 5:10 AM

Mhh the pic seems OK for me Seravajan, the background is black wich actually should bring out the detail in a dark object as oposed to a bright background w/a dark object. The ligthing is just standard P4 as I did this close-up quickly just after finishing the character. You might want to fiddle around with your brightness/contrast/gamma settings on your monitor and/or vid card. Or close the blinds/curtains :) Always suprices me to see how many people use their PC in a brightley light room with a window letting in direct sunlight :D /shrug you could always just put it through PSP or Photoshop or wathever and brigten it up... Anyne else having trouble seeing my pic? Axe

Seravajan ( ) posted Tue, 02 April 2002 at 5:47 AM

You can try to use a reddish background. Because red is in some degree the counter color of blue. Seravajan

cyber-organic ( ) posted Tue, 02 April 2002 at 8:33 AM

Axe, the pic looked dark to me when I looked at it yesterday on my girlfriend's monitor, but here on my work PC I can see more of the detail. I've always thought that her monitor seemed dim.

Seravajan ( ) posted Tue, 02 April 2002 at 8:51 AM

I like your pic Seravajan. On other worlds, and in diffrent universes, and several fantasies Dark Elves can look how ever you want them to look. The elves that the Drow are based on usually are elven in all respects (pointed ears, slender, beatiful, mystic, etc...) with white hair (sometimes containing streaks of silver, or light color) reddish or purpleish eyes, and ebony skin (jet black). They are evil by nature, and mainly worship a goddess by the name of Lolth, the queen of the Demon Webbed Pits, and ruler supreme of the Abyse. I uploaded a pic of one of my favorite Dark Elf females I made useing "Morphette", and various props I had. The high res quality that "Morphette" has makes a great darked skin figure I think?

Seravajan ( ) posted Fri, 05 April 2002 at 1:20 AM

I know this stuff. I play (A)D&D since 15 years! :) But your darkelf give me the idea to add a reflection map to my darkelf. Seravajan
