hi friends, what has changed, are there any really new and stunning features, is it worth the money? please give me any kind of feedback that might help me to make a decision. thanks a lot and have fun! Karsten

Image Ready is the major change, I don't d see many changes in PhotoShop itself, there are some extra brushes and what not, but nothing to get excited about. Image ready is pretty nice though, if you are working on graphics for web pages.

it's for compressing images. Well... that's all I use it for

but for compressing i can use "webJPEG", too, so an update will not be neccesary. thanks for the information my friends!

I don't have it YET, but there are a few changes worth noting: 1. The "magic wand" tool has been greatly enhanced and now has three different ways to come up with a mask for you. It's as good as those $100 mask plugins you've seen around (there was a review in a recent edition of "Publish" magazine. 2. Text on a path. Now you don't have to do your text on one of those curvy paths in Freehand, etc, covert it to EPS, and then import into Photoshop (thus loosing any chance to modify it without going back and starting all over again). I'm not sure, but I think you can also do enevlope distortions to text, but verify that with Adobe if it's important to you. These two enhancements alone make it worth the high cost to me (not to mention the web graphics stuff they threw in, plus Image Ready...). 'Hope this helps you to decide. - Jim

Hey Jim, it seems that you know everything about Photoshop. Everytime one has a question you are one of them who answers very professional. Thank you again! I will have a look at the updated functions at a local dealer. yet it sounds like it might be useful to have the update. thanx again to all you guys who gave an answer. Karsten

Mac G4 owners will see AMAZING speed boosts with 5.5 and the Altivec plugin. Some filter operations are 200 - 300 percent faster - even if they were fast to begin with. -sk
