Subject: Monthly Challenge Voting Cut-Off Point & Other Stuff...

AgentSmith ( ) posted Tue, 09 April 2002 at 6:46 PM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 12:35 PM

Okay kids, gather round, here we go; I can't recall how many days was devoted to voting for the Monthly Challenge entries in the past. (perhaps someone could remind me?) Anyway, the voting is winding down a bit, so I would like to make a cut-off time for the voting, say 5:00 p.m. tomorrow. (Pacific (California) Time). Also, if you would like to give suggestions to how long voting time should last in future voting, please do so. One more note (live and learn) - A BIG oversite on my part when I started the voting thread; It didn't occur to me to impart the actual assignment of the challenge. Meaning, I didn't put in the part about this latest challenge being EITHER Metaballs (Bryce 5) AND/OR Booleans (Bryce 4). Sorrybout that, definitely a must-do for the future challenges. And...by the powers that be...Moderator Spike has seen to it that I have now become one of the Bryce Co-Moderator's. Thanks to Modfather Spike, and I hope I can do you guys justice. Remember, 5 p.m. tomorrow, Challenge Voting stops! Agent Smith

Congrats Agent Smith! 1. Voting, I think should only last 3 or 4 days (cuts into new contest time!) 2. Does becoming co-moderator disqualify you? :^) (just kidding...)

  1. Yeah, I think 3 days is fine, myself. Just wanted to put it to a vote. 2. I think so, lol.

note = not dontja hate it when someone moves the keys on your keyboard?

Since not everybody comes here daily, some might come by only once a week, I think the vote should go for at least 5 to 7 days.

Yeah it is a rather large amount of votes, eh? Thought it was just my imagination, or my bleary eyes from counting votes. Maybe it was big draw `cause of the Metaballs? Even I was impressed by what could be done with them. Good point(s). 5 days, hmmmmm.... I hate when...instead of right clicking and saving that pic of some sexy actress, I have unknowingly set it as my wallpaper for my girlfriend to later happily discover... Agent Smith

Hey I think 3-4 days is good 'cos it otherwise eats up into the next challenge time. Also people who drop into Bryce forum are pretty regular. In fact can we set a timetable of sorts (now it's likely to be mid-off a month to the mid of next month considering the delay in putting it up) so that the images have to be submitted by the middle of the 4th week, and the vote takes place by end of the week and new topic be put up within 2-3 days of the voting results declaration? If a time table is set and adhered to, people will know when to come and check the challenge images and when to vote! Also I think the large percentage of voter turn out was as much due to metaballs as it was due to the mystery of the disappearing Moderators! :-P ;-)

it is the biggest vote Ive checked em out since the first one (underwater challenge) I'm usually quiet, unless someone asks a question that was answered incorrectly or hasnt been answered. And I do come here daily..sometimes more than once. I remember the days when rosity didnt exist and the only sources of info was the kpt board, delphi, peter sharpe, calyxa, and my site. look at all the sites now..wow. BT

For the challenge it yould be good to say it's a 30 day challenge from the day the subject has been decided. Not going from 1 day of the month to the last day of the month because we always loose some days. DenisG
