Tell you what, we'll open it a little bit. Any music form that has been covered in Rolling Stone is acceptable. Country, soul, r&r, even classical (if you want to model Yo-Yo Ma and his cello, go for it: RS interviewed him a couple of years ago). But it has to be music-oriented. And let's say one entry per: I wanna see some hard work put into this. (::cracking that whip::) <-- Oh God, it's a Devo moment!
O man, if there was ever a band that has the personality to be poserised it's Gaelic Storm but I doubt their style of music has ever had a mention in Rolling Stone. Heck I've even got the Daz violin so it would just be a matter of modeling (finding?) a Guinness can and bodhran. :)

As I said earlier on in the thread, everyone who enters will receive a small prize of some kind. I figure, if you're gonna have the guts to do this, you oughta receive something for your trouble. And it's fun, trust me. I did a render with it last night, and it's way cool. But our grand prize winner? In addition to Dark Whisper's generous offer (and DW has some very cool stuff, folks -- check it out), you'll also receive a KISS-style body texture for the Poser character of your choice AND a pack of t-shirt textures from some of the great rock concerts and musical events ever, ranging from the original Woodstock and the last Grateful Dead tour to this season's opening of the Metropolitan Opera (always a reason for celebration, right?).

For a giggle and nothing more, let's put together a mass concert image, sort of a "Remember the Chickens and Let the Chickens Run Free" kind of thing (an old SNL joke: points to anyone who remembers it). To accomplish this, I'll ask you to create a full body render, front camera view set for 50mm, with an image height of 700 pixels, under Poser standard ambient light. Save the render as a .tif file so there's an alpha channel to work with. Standard grey background only. The pose you use is up to you, but I'd suggest whatever pose you're using in your entry. No props unless they're used by the character, like Ray Charles would come with his piano, and the image would contain the entire piano as well as Ray. Send the .tif to virtuasite@aol.com, and I'll composite all entries into a final Poser concertpiece as part of the everyone-gets-one prize.
hmmm only problem is I didn't save my Rod character :(

Alrighty, here is mine...I did a few, I did one that I really was keen on of Tobey Torres of Snake River Conspiracy, and one of Rachel Van Asch of Medieaval Baebes-but since there are nine members in MB, I decided to go a bit differently....so I chose to do Melora Creager of Rasputina (I didn't do the other chairs because one is new-K.Copperthwaite and there aren't that many pics of Nana)-so here is the lady lead of rasputina of which I took my nickname...There are pictures of Melora Creager @ the link under 'cameos' to see likeness (or what I hope is a likeness). :) I did her hair in the big ol' waxy dred sections that she wears it in shows. forgive the ramble! Wow all of the images so far are fantastic! Way to go everyone :)

Okay, I had way too much fun with the Village People images, and I'm sure there are more than a couple of people glad that particular imagery series is done. But at the same time there are a lot of groups out there just screaming to be Poserized: the Grateful Dead, Metallica, Aqua, and yes, even Banarama. Wouldn't take much: all the necessary props are out there to create almost anyone you wanted. It'd just mean a little texture building work here and there, more than anything else. So here's the idea. Create your Poser hommage to your favourite band. No restrictions on era, but it must be a rock band or rock solo performer. Postwork is more than allowed (There was more postwork in the VP stuff than I care to admit.). The ONLY musical group off limits is Robert Palmer and his "back up band" for Addicted to Love 'cause that one's mine, you hear? Mine! Finally, it has to be a real band or performer. Now, just to make this interesting, I'll contact the editors at Rolling Stone and tell them about this and see if they'd be interested in maybe doing a story on the entries and Poser and Rsity. Chances are pretty good that they will, so consider that an incentive. But what I do not want to hear is "Oh my work isn't good enough for that..." Bulltwinkies. Quit yer whinin' and just sit down and frigging do it, okay? You've listened to Annie Lennox for years; now's yer chance to show her how much you love her... And yep, there'll be a prize for this one. No idea just what yet, but something appropriate. And as before, everyone who enters will get something just for having the guts to enter. Deadline for entries: April 13, noon Rsity time. Entries are to be posted in this thread. Rock on, folks.
