Subject: Invitation to EasyPose

Ajax ( ) posted Sun, 07 April 2002 at 8:53 PM · edited Fri, 02 August 2024 at 4:02 PM

Starting sometime on Friday April 12, I'll be running Q&A tutorials on EasyPose. One will be at Thralldom and one will be at RuntimeDNA. (Please note that Thralldom is an adult site and quite probably the kinkiest Poser site on the plannet, so if think you might feel uncomfortable over there, you should go for the RuntimeDNA option.) If you'd like to do some preparation and get your ERC skills in order, I recommend the tutorials at Robert Whisenant's site (Right side of the Brain: www.rbtwhiz.com) and Nerd's site (Nerd3D: www.nerd3d.com). The tutorial/Q&A will focus on how to set up an EasyPose figure. There will be examples of code but some previous experience with ERC would be an advantage. Some experience using an EasyPose figure, such as the free EasyPose tube, would also be useful. This is your chance to pick my brain on the finer details and get into making EasyPose figures for yourself :-) Ajax.

Actually it's the first time I've heard that one. I get lots of positive feedback and most of my customers come back for more. I also get lots of requests to make more and to do more conversions for existing figures. You can check out the EasyPose tube in the free stuff if you want to see for yourself. I always post a note about that in my store descriptions so I really can't understand why anyone would buy one of my figures if they don't like the system. It's not like they don't get the opportunity to try before they buy. There are other EasyPose freebies around that you can try too. There are some at BeyondBent for example. I have some tutes on how to get the most out of the system as well. You can find those at the link. My whips were reviewed at InDepth and also at 3DArena, so you could check the reviews to see what they said if you want. Since it's easy to copy and paste them, I'll stick in a few quotes for you: Traveler - "The EasyPose system is one of the more important advances in poser tech that I have seen come down the pipe in a long time. It makes posing long bendy objects so much easier, to the point that a few twists of a dial and I can put the object in whatever pose I may need. If you like the originals, you will LOVE Ajax's conversions to EasyPose!" Syyd - "This product is well worth its weight in gold. I have used it in several renders, and Ajax put a great deal of work into making this poseable. The sections are incredible. Its uses can be varied, from a straight cable, to a tentacle with an incredible clasp like thing with claws. I think I created two of my best art works using it." judith - "EasyPose is amazing! I wish I would have known what a great system EasyPose was long before I did. Posing tentacles, braids and such to look natural is difficult and time-consuming,..... Ajax has simplified the process both for new and seasoned users! Thanks for such a great time-saving product, I'm sold!" warzog - "I'm in LOVE with ERC! I wish EVERYTHING had it! I clicked on a segment near the handle, spun the dial, and the ENTIRE whip coiled one way, and then the other! SOOOO Easy to Pose! FANTASTIC WORK!!!!! If for no other reason, you got to try this-it's GREAT!" markm - "This is a fantastic figure . It poses very smoothly and it is easy to work with , it also has a variety of uses from tentacles to electrical cables . I say it's worth the price of 20$"

After trying to make one myself and realizing it was going to take freakin' forever, I bought the Easypose whip, and I really like it. I have better results with it if I know exactly what I want it to do rather than trying to wing it (but hey, I get that with everything ^_~), but using the EP dials was a lot faster than having to go through and adjust every single segment to get it to do what I want. Caleb, if you're worried about the system, I'd go play with the EP tube. Oh, and also read the tutorials on Ajax's site; they help shed light on things.

That's great news! Perhaps I will learn how to throw a whip after all... well, at least in poser!

bloodsong ( ) posted Mon, 08 April 2002 at 3:54 PM

sometime when? :P :) morning? evening? afternoon? time zone? eh?? :)

Ajax ( ) posted Mon, 08 April 2002 at 4:02 PM

Yeah, it depends on timezone. I don't know exactly when Syyd will set it up but if it's Friday morning in the US of A then I'll be asleep. I'll be online at about 7:00 am Saturday my time, but I'm not sure what time that will be for you. Currently, it's 7:00am Tuesday here and 16:00 Monday by the Renderosity clock.

Caleb, grab the Shard Suit hat from beyond bent. It's easy to use once you figure it out. Basically, you can affect the entire shape of something just by twisting a dial with a single segment selected. Depending on which segment is selected, you affect either the entire figure or just part of the figure. I find it very intuitive.

Cris_Palomino ( ) posted Wed, 10 April 2002 at 4:45 AM

Ajax, is there any possibility of a transcript of what you are doing? I will be out of town and really wanted to attend this. Cris

Ajax ( ) posted Wed, 10 April 2002 at 5:41 AM

Sure thing, Cris. It will be something like a forum or maybe something like the spotlights they have here at Renderostiy, rather than a chat, so it will last a long time and I should think both sites will archive it for future reference. I'm still not exactly sure how it's going to be run at RDNA but I know the plan at thralldom is just to have a forum with me as moderator. I'll bow out in mid May and somebody else will take over (I'm sure TL will be happy to hear from any volunteers). Also, I've put together a full tutorial and I will almost certainly put that up at my site at a later date.

Ajax ( ) posted Wed, 10 April 2002 at 9:59 PM

OK, the latest news is that it's going to be a forum at both sites and I'll be moderator for about a month. I plan to start by posting the tutorial I've put together and then I'll field whatever questions people post. If possible, I'll post the basic tutorial on Friday morning GMT. Otherwise it will be later the same day, probably about 9:00pm GMT.

Ajax ( ) posted Thu, 11 April 2002 at 5:48 PM

Sorry, I don't do chat. I've never been able to get any of them to work properly :-(
