heyas; www.e-onsoftware.com yes, it has a demo, but still version 2, i think. it is NOT a contest to see which is better, bryce vs vue. it is a DEMONSTRATION of bryce, carrera, lightwave, max, vue, ray dream, etc, to so people can comparison shop. anyway, if you think it's a dumb idea, that's up to you. :)
Sorry to say this, but that doesn't sound to intelligent to me. Comparing Vue and Bryce is still possible but not very sensible. By comparing the rendering-result of a similar scene, you forget to compare the two programms specialities: Bryce offers slow but relatively good looking volumetric shaders, Vue offers built in Vegetation and a far more powerful material editor. So, what's the point at comparing both programms? Bryce wins every scene that requires volumetric effects, Vue wins every scene with vegetation... But going even further: I have no idea so far, what Carrara is capable of, but I do not think carrara is capable to compare with Lightwave or 3D-Studio. In a direct rendering contest Carrara is doomed to loose. If Carrara retains RayDreams Ease-of-Use, Carrara will win against both Lightwave and 3D-Studio since both programms were created by programmers for programmers, not artists. Carrara on the other hand was created more with the artist in mind. So, just creating a similar scene and then comparing the render-results will be of no help at all. If you do such a contest, you will have to compare the whole creation-process of the scene in both programms. Lanover
I totally agreed with Lanover. I thought I hear Pixar was in too...LOL! Btw, under an expert hand...any 2D program like Corel Photo Paint and Photo shop can out wit some 3D program on a given scene. I would not be suprised if a vector program can achieve a convincing piece and all at a faster time. Bill
hmmm... that's true too. you probably COULD do an identical scene in each prog, but the question is, how many hoops did you have to jump through to do it? you could hand-build a vue piece of vegetation... if you really wanted to... ;) so i guess a feature list would be more informative than a comparison render. okay, i agree with ya there.

Over on the Poser forum Darth_Logice is proposing sort of a 3D render shoot out between the various programs. Anyone here want to be the Vue rep?
I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!
