Above you can see the preview of my Moonshae-Elf. The items on picture are created, now my problem: Can someone tell me a program or a way to convert 3DS.Files to PP2.Files. The next props i am creating are shoes, more jewels and the complet body-armor. I hope someone out there can help me. Thanks a lot and best regards from Switzerland Sharkey

If you only have poser This might work (but there has GOT to be a better way). Open Poser. Delete the current figure, import the prop into Poser and then add it to your props library. I tried this for some 3ds props and it did the job. For some reason poser will change the default color of the prop when you apply it from the library next time. This doesn't work for all meshes though. Also, you might try the same thing but exporting it as an obj and then importing the obj as above. I haven't tested that theory so sorry if it's a waste of time.

VERY cool Sharkey! I really like your elf series. Have not rendered anything with it yet. I am returning to Poser after a long absence-so I am looking forward to it. Cheers, Eric

Thanks for the tip arabinowitz, but the facemask for example consist of 6 different 3DS-Files. If i load all 6 files and export as an OBJ-File all parts had the same color.

The problem with the materials is because of the spaces in the material names, ie. "material #1" is not the same in Poser as "material#1". This can be fixed by importing the .3ds file, saving to the props library. Then open the .pp2 in a text editor, and look for the usemtl statements. Remove all the spaces in the material names, save the file, and you will be all good. The next time you bring the prop into Poser from the library, it will work fine. Basically, since Poser can't interpret the spaces in the material names, it creates a new "global" material that overrides all your other material settings. Hope this is the info you were after. co(V)(V)union

Communion, theres an easier way: just assign the materials inside 3Dmax AND give them names other than "material#1" (for instance, "gunmetal", "blade" etc). When imported, Poser will asign each material tha same default values (shiny grey). Set the values you want for each material and then save tho the pp2 library. Et voila! This way the only material Poser will add will be "preview", the one for the box-style display.

Of course you could do it that way, it is much easier. My solution was for someone who doesn't have MAX, and is trying to use .3ds files in Poser, where the prop creator didn't take the time to name the materials seperately. co(V)(V)union
