A friend of mine wanted me to make a castle for him to use as a logo for the web page of a gaming guild or something like that... I tried to make it halfway ominous looking, but I'm not entirely sure where to go from here... Modeled in Max R3, rendered in Bryce 3d. Ideas are, of course, greatly appreciated.

windows would be nice

Let me run this by you and see what you think. I think you should start by putting the castle on top of a mountain and it should be somewhere in the distance. For the right atmosphere, it should be a rain night with a couple cracks of lightning and some ominous looking clouds. If you put the castle farther away, you do not have to pay so much attention to detail. I hope this makes it easier for you. Tempest

hmm... Thanks tempest, sounds perfect. Umm... How do I do rain and lightning w/ bryce 3d. I know 4 has like a rain material or something, but I don't think 3 does. As for lightning, well... other than post render (which I'm absolutely horrible at) I have no clue where to begin. Thanks, Roshigoth

Oh, nevermind about the rain.. i found that texture.. but lightning's still gonna be a problem... Thanks again, Roshigoth

I wast just giving input... I dont know myself although there are people who can tell you or you can download a lightning object that you can import into your picture. Go to www.chemicalstudios.com (im not sure about the spelling) As for the rain, other than using it as a sky, I would you go to: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Program/3093/tutor/bryce/rain.html Tempest

Let me know, I am interested as to how it turns out. I am pretty sure you can make it look good though. One thing that I would like to ask is where did you get the texture for the roof tiles and for the castle walls. I am truing to make my own, but the colors don't come out right.

Roshigoth ( ) posted Thu, 27 January 2000 at 1:00 PM

Hmm... the roof tiles I made myself. I just drew them in photoshop, then applied a noise filter to make them bumpy looking. As for the walls, umm... I'm not really sure. I think I downloaded a jpg somewhere and made it from that. I can't remember where though.

GUESS WHAT ROSHIGOTH?!? Are you still looking for lightening? FastTraxx I believe has some. Click the link on the right hand side that says "Chemical Studios". Go to his 3D models and look around. I am pretty sure they are there. Enjoy -Adam

Oh, sorry. I am blind! I didn't see that Tempest posted the link.

If you've got Photoshop, there is an action called "Dr Storm" (or something like that) that creates lightning. Create a TIF file of some using that and import into Bryce as a 2D object. Or, if you've got Adobe Premiere, there is an absolutely kick-ass lightning generator in the FX section Paul

I've got Photoshop 4.0... I don't know of a "Dr. storm" filter or anything... is it something I could download somewhere, or what? Thanks, Rosh
