Attached Link: Missing textures for afalcmcapathia.zip

The Prop department is quite pleased with your acceptance of thier new kit. And they hope to see some of the parts in renders one day. Now they have a question. What section should they do next? Here's what they have ideas for; Computer room Galley Engine Room Corridors Sickbay Crew Berths Captain's quarters Gunnery hardpoints shuttle bay the problem is they don't know which to do first or next. Here's where you come in. What or where should they start on next? that's it. post them here or mail me at; lalverson@n-link.com BTW the link at the bottom is for the missing textures for the bridge sections (they were busy last night packing this bad dog out.

Actually, I agree 100% with Daio's prioritization - and later still, how about a ship's Airlock with VacSuit suiting up locker room, a Recreation Room, a hydroponics pod, and (perhaps for giggles) a hi-tech head(Restroom)

Tashar59 ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 9:10 PM

I like Daio's list too, also Leather-guy's ideas, a Hydroponics pod would be GREAT. Tashar 59

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 9:12 PM

In space, no one can hear you flush. :)

I respectfully disagree with Daio's prioritization.

Make the corridors first, so we can link all of the sections together as they're released.

How about elevators, ventilation shafts, and Jeffries tubes (or whatever they're called in non-Trek parlance)? You know: the unpleasant, claustrophobic bowels of the ship, where you least want to encounter a hostile lifeform.

queri ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 9:14 PM

What? No Rec room? No Bar? Oh yeah, this is Alien, I forgot-- I'll go with Daio's wish list. But we need some narrow scary corridors with lots of pipes that are leaking indescribably horrid goo. Emily

lalverson ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 9:23 PM

well, maybe not alien, but the overall style of ship I'm going after a a cargo/passenger ship kinda think as a modern day refernce is a large bulk /ore carrier. but a bar might be an idea.

LdyMox ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 9:33 PM

Computer room sounds great

jaybutton ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 10:15 PM

I agree with Little Dragon. I would do the corridors next so that we can link scenes together. Jay

MissTara ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 10:20 PM

Sick bay, mess hall (galley), engineering, hydroponics. My votes :)

Lyrra ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 10:24 PM

Hydroponics, crew quarters, officers quarters, galley, rec room. and hallways! :) Great work :)

procchi ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 10:38 PM

Some other options? Cold-sleep pods? Cargo Bay Sensor Suite?

Grey_cat ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 10:42 PM

Exactly How big is ship?

itisitex ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 10:52 PM

Gunnery hardpoints Computer room Engine Room shuttle bay Sickbay then the rest

lalverson ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 11:11 PM

Grey Cat- As far as size goes, in modern day terms for a scale that is marginally understood. Think Super-Tanker big, obviously since this is a starship it would be far bigger but in a relative way as far as scale goes a supertanker would work. The prop forperson asks at what poser relative scale you would like (like ground plane wide, or double?) Like for corridor sections would you like double long, or a combination of section sizes?

OpticalSingenoid ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2002 at 11:25 PM

Well, on average the Nostromo had Corridors ranging
from 4 to 6 feet wide. Not counting Crawlways & such...

But, that is specs i have in my synapses.
I'll have to find my book to confirm...

If you wish, i have DVD Caps of them.
I could send them to you for reference...

Let me know!

And Great Props! Thanks!!

I might give a go at modeling the "Doors" myself.

I'll try to squeeze those in this weekend.

There is such a Huge lack of good Sci-Fi environments! :-)

Oh! We have almost completed the creation of our Elevator.
If i can find sketches or pics of Sci-Fi ones, we could do that too...

Later

I agree halls. How about hall sections that you can remove the center floor panel to reveal 'plumbing' or add a grate transparency texture to it. Anyway here is one I have been working on for grins. Happy with the floor but still need to work on the walls and supports. This is a Rhino render and the pink Vicky is just for scale :)

BTW, Thanks for the free props.

I see your point, but the solid single prop is not the direction the prop department is going. They want sectional, that way one can build the set as you need, so you can get the camera in. This whole thing is/will remain in sections like a theature set. you add sections where they will be in frame. Your corridor is great but it's a set thing. you cannot make it narrower without blowing scale. the way I will do this ship is like all the sets I've done thus far. the expale I have here is similar to your except the center section is it's own prop. you can use it, or not load it and use two side corridor sections moved it for a narrow space or a with the wider floor piece a very wide one

Letterworks ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2002 at 12:06 AM

DEfinately halls, the crew quarters, cargo bays(!), hardpoints etc. mike

lalverson ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2002 at 12:07 AM

Also as you see by my example. the corridor is actually dbl sided so the corridor can bow in or out as wanted. one could also dbl stack and offset for a 2nd deck.

FishNose ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2002 at 12:49 AM

Corridors (incl sections with curves? junctions?) Shuttle Bay Cargo Bays Berths Some kind of bar Engine Room But really, your stuff is all too cool.. whatever order suits you best! Yeah, and airlock - the characters need to enter the scene from someplace. :] FishNose

the3dwizard ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2002 at 6:27 AM

You hall looks good and I like the idea of only adding a wall at a time. The grating on the floor was one thing I was after. I guess I will have to make my hall modular too :) Cheers,

Phantast ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2002 at 7:30 AM

Engine room, cargo bay, hydroponics.

MaterialForge ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2002 at 8:42 AM

I like the corridors, has a very "Black Hole" look (remember that movie?) to it. Quarters and Rec Rooms would be cool, but I have to agree with the hallways first suggestion. Also, a Hydroponics room would be cool!

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2002 at 8:59 AM

Poor posette gonna get sucked out into space through the airlock

starmkr ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2002 at 9:42 AM

How about building a Movie Studio on board for Vick, Michael and Stephanie can act out "Days of Our Life"

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2002 at 12:11 PM

how about a holo deck? star trek is a passion of mine :)
