Hi all, I had an idea for a sun in Vue, what do you think? It's a lens flare from PS mapped onto a plane with some fiddling on the transparency. Placed right in front of the sun light. What do you think? I'll post the .vob to Freestuff if anyone is interested. Gail

It actually bugs my eyes to look at it. :) Works great. This would solve one of Vue's biggest faults. I'd download it just to have it on hand for when I finally budget in Vue.

Truth has no value without backing by unfounded belief.

I would like to have it storage also, I know I will use it sometime. Marge

Yes, great, I think I'll use it. May be it could be enhanced by this tip : (it's not mine it's a vue 3 standard) you can make a kind of flare in sky and clouds menu and obtain circles in the sky. See the picture and the screen shot of sky and cloud menu. Bye, Xav Hey, we can't post picture when it's a reply ? So I'll make a new message.

heya; all right silver, cool! (but, um... why are the front 2 cactuses casting shadows backwards? ;) )

Excellent Gail, you have done what I wish I had from the beginning and didn't think was really possible. It's just about perfect except for one thing: the view of the sun looks like to me to be from viewing in person (not from a camera) which I would think is desirable except then the fuzzy edge of the sun should be uniform (it currently has four large spikes from the lensflare). If it were to be an actual lensflare, then the spikes should be MORE pronounced, but I think this is pointless because you might as well do it totally postprocessing. So, taking it as a view in person, try and get rid of the 4 large spikes (although the smaller more frequent ones look good). Just my opinion, Karl

Actually, could you make a few variations of suns? I think we'd all be greatly indebted. They'd be especially cool for Tatooine scenes... no? :) Metropa PS: Thanks to everyone for answering my initial request. Too cool.

Hey all! Let us learn from experiment. I think Gail has started a lead for us all. Why not each of us do what can be made the best out of this? I say, let us all giveit a go and see what turn out best.I think Xav already started. As for Gail's work....almost there. The fault is the two front Catus shadow casting backward as indicated by Bloodsong and the points brought out by Karlm. Very very good effort on Gail's effort! :) Bill

Yeah, OK guys, ya got me. I put a light over the camera so I could see what I was doing then forgot to take it out. That's what I get for hurrying to post before work. :-) I just picked my favorite lens flare out of my presets to see what would happen. I almost went blind today at work trying to look at the sun and see what it looked like. :-) I'll see about making some others. Gotta also check out Xav's idea, combining the 2 might really look good. Gail

Then again, perhaps Gail is such a perfectionist, she added a virtual flash-fill on top of the camera so she could get the proper exposure of the Cactus? heh,heh...

LOL Metropa! Ya know, I do auto racing photography on the side, I was thinking that! It's really the big ol' silver reflector and the fill flash! Or perhaps it was the reflection off the big dunce cap. :-) Gail
