Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 13 11:02 am)
No, I was able to open it Melanie, but I was trying to remember--there was some small problem--a file not found or something. Maybe someone else can remember. Ahhh-I remember--I didn't have the ground texture and by damn it wasn't going to open it until I did--I tried bypassing by cancelling, etc. I went round about several times. I found the Wood1.jpg (I think-that's off the top of my head) in Freestuff. Also, that texture has a small W I think, so I had to rename the file. That was MY problem, but maybe someone else had another. Diane B
Oh, okay. That almost always happens to me with Pz3s and other things. What I've been told and what I do (which almost always works) is say 'no' and wait. Usually, after a bit of time, it will open the file. Not always. As I recall it didn't open when it didn't find the ground texture for Mikki. Try it again and then see if it will ask for a texture this time--it will say at the top of the dialog box what it wants. Try hitting 'cancel' and see what happens. If it won't cooperate look for Wdfloor1.jpg texture in Freestuff (seems to me you have to rename it to correspond with the filename asked for). Download it, then open Poser, bring in any prop and put Wdfloor1.jpg on as a .bmp. It will ask you to change to .bum. THEN--you will have the right file Mikki needs for the floor texture (Wdfloor1.bum). I honestly never saw the texture in the Mikki pic-strange, but it solved my problem. Then--I saved the Mikki figure in my characters library without the lights and ground and all was well. Hope this works--or if you need clarification, just ask. Maybe someone (Thorne??) might have a better answer. Diane B PS--Netscape just crashed yet again--luckily I cut and pasted the answer so I could reboot and paste it back over here. I CAN NOT wait until I get totally backed up, reformatted and install Win98 and get things straightened out. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
I had the same problem with Mikki - a missing texture that was making Poser crash. The texture was wdfloor1.jpg or Wdfloor1.jpg (I honestly cannot remember which). I keep a small file on my HDD - just a 100x100 JPEG with a grey fill. I rename this to match any missing texture maps and this solves the problem (and creates some very odd results sometimes grin) Paul

Has anyone had problems with Thorne's Mikki character? I downloaded this PZ3 file and when I tried to open it in Poser, I get an error message telling me it can't find the file, then it crashes Poser so I have to ctrl/alt/del to get out. What could be wrong? Melanie
