Subject: ProPack Update

Bobasaur ( ) posted Sat, 20 April 2002 at 7:56 PM · edited Fri, 20 September 2024 at 8:30 AM

I finally got the budget to get the ProPack. However, I've noticed that it hasn't been updated in a while. I'd hate to be the poor schmuck who bought it 91 days before a major update was released only to find out that they only give free updates to those who've purchased it in the last 90 days. Has there been any word on when ProPack Version 2 (or even 1.5) will be released?

I think updates are free to anyone who purchased it. There on there website. Service release 1, 2 , and 3. I dont think 4 is out yet.

Updates are indeed free once you get the ProPack - Poser5 is rumored to be coming out soon, but if you need it NOW, then upgrade, and they'll more then likely (but not absolutely) have a discount price to Poser Pro users or something, most companies do anyways.

I'm glad to hear there's a rumor of Poser 5. I have't seen any indication of anything new from them for a while (Service Release 3 has been on their site since late last summer/early last fall I think). I've been kinda concerned since I know that the economy has been bad.

I can wait a little longer for the ProPack. I'm working out a 4-minute music video animation with 4 bandmembers (guitar/bass/keys/drums), 6 swordfighting warriors, 3 dancers, and a baby. I've got it scripted, 90% storyboarded, the characters are designed and created, and the original music is roughed out. I still have a month or two before I'll be ready to get it into Lightwave and render. And render. And render.

That's when I'll need the ProPack.

I want to do better than the one I've got this link to. It's a 10-meg QuickTime file (I let a friend have the 30 fps version and he ended up putting it on his site to show his friends with fast connections) - all done in Poser. If you've got the time to check it out, I think you'll find it to be "a hoot."

If you purchase Pro Pack, you can download Service Release 3 for free. And, when we launch future versions of our products, you will be eligible for upgrade pricing. Anthony Hernandez Documentation Manager Curious Labs

ANTHONY,
For those Potential propack buyers "Holding out"
for poser 5,
Could you clarify that the feature set in the
current Propack (Setup room, lightwave hosting, python etc.)
will NOT be incorporated into poser5
i think many users believe Poser 5 will eliminate the need to buy the current propack

FYI, I went ahead last night and ordered ProPack from the Curious Labs Online Store. I had checked the rest of the Forum messages, seen wish lists, seen other discussion on possible future upgrades, etc. and finally came across a message mentioning the Demo movie at Daz3D. I checked it out and it was excellent! My goal is to be able to import Poser animations into Lightwave. That demo showed me that the ProPack is worth the money as is. Therefore, for the sake of getting ahead on the learning curve I decided not to wait. At least not for more than two shipping days!!!!

Good Choice!! the ability to import my poser character animation into Cinema4DXL for rendering is the "HOLY Grail" For me. that alone made it worth the price!!

wolf359, I love the breathing hose! The character looks very cool, too. Is this a conceptual piece or finished? Your color selection makes it look very alien - instead of the traditional olive drab or desert tan found in human uniforms (not that I've actually seen alien uniforms of course)! Hmmm. I'm not used to being in forums. I wonder if I should have sent this directly? If so, I'm sorry to the moderators.
