Subject: Orangutan's eye texture Problem...

This is what I'm getting when I apply the Orangutan's eye texture that came with the model... I'm hoping it's something stupid on my part and doesn't mean I'm goin' to have to redo the texture map... I am totally hopeless when it comes to textures.. Anyone else have this problem? The Oranutan's eyes load up solid black but I'd really like to make them realistic like Dedicated Digital shows in their picture and there is an eye texture included with the model, for gawd's sakes.. I'm perplexed

The only advice I can give is to start over. Delete the files then re-install the Orangutan to the exact folders listed in DD's zip file. This will give you the black color for the eyes. Then go to the eyes in the materials menu and make the color white. And add the "Orangutan_eyes.jpg" texture to them. At this point you should now see the correct eye textures. Close Poser. Next: download the JP update again. I changed it to point at the default file locations. So don't use the one you got earlier. Then replace the .CR2 and .RSR files with the ones in the update. And restart Poser. You should now have the updated JP's as well as see the correct texture for the eyes. I just did this myself starting from scratch and it worked flawlessly. Hope that solves your problem. ScottA iamsba@aol.com

IT WORKED!!!.. I know what I did wrong now after installing your files, I replaced the orangutan.rsr in the charactor folder but NOT in the geometries folder... ugh!!! I would of never figured that out.. It's weird though that the eye texture didn't work when I first loaded it from DD and without your fixes.. But the texture works with your fix.. Thanks Scott for making this lil goofy ape come to life for me... =) ~Cindy

Hmm. I didn't include an .rsr for the geometries folder in the update. Only one for the libraries folder. But hey. The main thing is you got it working. Enjoy. ScottA

LOL That's funny cause when I reinstalled as you suggested with the update, it still wouldn't work for me.. Got the alien eyes again.. Then I thought hmmmm Maybe I'm misunderstanding and supposed to switch the orangutan.rsr in the geometries too, so I did.. It worked then.. YEEEEEE HAAAAAAA.... =)

I got the blue alien eyes too and reinstalling/reupdating didn't work. I think putting the image file (rsr) from the character library into the geometry folder forced Poser to create a new "real" rsr file and this newly created rsr file works with no blue alien eyes. The new working orangutan.rsr file is 944,063 bytes, the original DD file was 901,221 bytes. I've been throwing the stock poses at him now without black eyes and no real problems. Thanks for the jp update Scott!

Diana, I was beginning to think that silly ape was possessed... Really had a time with him too.... This ape has gotten more attention than he deserves... lol Scott did a great job on him and I'm really happy I have another primate in my library... I noticed that too about the file size... I think Scott said he directed the files to point to the correct textures whereas the original files weren't doing that.... I'm glad he's fixed...We don't need anymore alien monkeys around here, looks like we have plenty ..hehe.... =)

Yea. I figured people weren't deleting the old .rsr after they installed DD's original files. So I added one more line to the readme file specifying to make sure to delete it before installing my update. I thought it was clear enough in the first readme. But I guess it wasn't. ScottA
