From the business section of my local news paper, The Louisville Courier Journal. Not too good of a render, but it gets the point across.

heyas; what i want to know is, who's getting paid all the big bucks to do these illustrations, when any of us could have done the job tons better? ::sigh::

I've seen a similar use of the P4 folks on a magazine cover.

Hey I'm in Louisville too! I missed that pic because I dropped my subscription, now I just check it out online every day.

sturkwurk ( ) posted Sun, 21 April 2002 at 9:50 PM

That's because they need to go up river for their renders. Or at least to Wilder, Ky to find me. I've seen poser popping up in National Geographic too... not to mention Maxim. Doug

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

Has anyone else seen the national "milk" ad with the chinese circius charachters? I'd swear that was poser, too!

amokery ( ) posted Mon, 22 April 2002 at 10:06 AM

HaHa, There's also a car dealership commercial out here in Phoenix, AZ that uses the P4dork that doesn't look too good.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Mon, 22 April 2002 at 12:47 PM

It's also appearing on the cover of the Media section of today's Grauniad

Micheleh ( ) posted Mon, 22 April 2002 at 4:09 PM

Well, we'll just have to show these people where they should be going for the real talent, won't we?

bloodsong ( ) posted Mon, 22 April 2002 at 4:27 PM

yeah!!! er, micheleh... how are we gonna do that? maybe we can put together a feature for a computer graphics magazine. i dunno, like, 'we're real poser artists and we're not gonna take it any more!' or something.

Micheleh ( ) posted Mon, 22 April 2002 at 4:57 PM

Well... the idea I just proposed in the mod forum was to have the option of titleing your "artist" page as a "portfolio" page, and including what sorts of work you do, and relevant contact information. I think that would help, insofar that potential clients surfing here will be led directly to people who are serious about promoting their skills. What do you think?

Micheleh ( ) posted Mon, 22 April 2002 at 5:03 PM

Oh, and as far as the "feature" article, well... I do work on the Rosity mag... we may want to talk about this. 8]

bloodsong ( ) posted Tue, 23 April 2002 at 4:05 PM

er... no offense to you or the rendo mag, but i meant magazines that people besides us know about. i mean, WE know we're good, but... nobody else has ever heard of us, ya know? the portfolio and resume sorta deal is a good idea.

Micheleh ( ) posted Tue, 23 April 2002 at 4:33 PM

"no offense to you or the rendo mag, but i meant magazines that people besides us know about. i mean, WE know we're good, but... nobody else has ever heard of us, ya know?" All I can say at this point is that, very soon, just about everyone will know about our mag. ;] As far as the resume page, it wouldn't hurt for people to start updating their artist pages, and making sure that the important information is there. Be sure all the contact info is there, a brief summary of your education and experiences, your best pieces as samples, etc. That will make less work later.

bloodsong ( ) posted Tue, 23 April 2002 at 5:41 PM

heyas; that's cool. of course, i never get out, so all I know is what goes on here! ;)

Tell me about it. I'm starting to see this palce in my dreams! 8P
