Is there a GOOD book on Poser4 out there? Specifically, looking for something to walk me through animation and lip-synching.

Have you heard of www.lipsinc.com ? This prog generates poser animations from wav speech. There's a betaversion out.

There is a new book called "The Poser 4 Handbook" published by Charles River Media. There are good chapters on hand, animal, and character animation. It's not bad.
