THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Fire in the dark

When you take a nice looking fire and put it in a dark atmosphere. Well I put fire in darkness and it turns a all yucky pale yellow color. If someone knows how to fix it I would appreciate it. Thanks Tempest

You might try putting a glass globe inside the fire, then putting a directional light just under the globe tilted slightly toward the camera, fairly bright and colored harmoniously so that it makes the glass glow inside the fire? I think everyone has the same problem, but that's the best answer I've been able to come up with so far. Generally, with something like that, I'll render the scene, then take it into photoshop and use Eye Candy's Glow filter to boost the fire. You have to do a lot of selecting with the magic wand, but it does the trick usually, and if you choose carefully and then fade the filter effect, the eye candy smoke filter can add smoke to it as well.

Talent is God's gift to you. Using it is your gift to God.

Those are some good ideas bonestructure. SOmething I noticed is that if it is not to dark it will work but if it i s on the other hand really dark, it will work as well. It is just somewhere in the middle that everything gets screwed up. Thanks Tempest

There is an OUTSTANDING fire texture at the Bryce Free Stuff section, in case you wanted to know. This may look better. The fire that came with Bryce is not that great compared to the fire on the free stuff section -Adam

Yes, Menno made that incredible fire, and I use it more than my own custom fire textures. You might try adjusting the ambience of the flames, maybe fiddle with the settings like , light, fuzziness, and solid and volumetric and see if you cant get a better flame in the dark. FastTraxx

I just hate that menno's fire is volumetric .. I never render with volumetric settings because it just washes out out and takes FOREVER ...
