Subject: .3DS & .OBJ in Ray Dream 5.5

Jetboy ( ) posted Sat, 29 January 2000 at 11:02 AM · edited Fri, 09 August 2024 at 7:04 PM

I'm new at Ray Dream and want to save an object in either .3DS or .OBJ format, but those file formats do not appear when I try to save or export it. It says in the manual and on the box that those formats are supported for export, so what gives? Am I doing something wrong?

JetBoy, Those should be options when doing an Export or Save As from RDS 5.5. Make sure you have the object that you want to Export selected. I usually do this in the TimeLine Window. Then try to Export or Save As. If that doesnt work you might want to visit the MC website and got to the Download section for RDS. There is a OBJ Exporter update file there. I was under the impression that the OBJ Exporter came with version 5.5 of RDS. Anyway - See if that helps. Let me know. regards, Clint

I just tried it and it didn't work. The only file formats it allows me to save/export an object in are .rds, .b3d, .vdu, .dxf and .wrl. That's really odd, as .3ds and .obj should be there. I'll check out MC's site for the OBJ Exporter update. Thanks, Alan
