Subject: A Question about Open GL

Hi, this is my fist post here. I have a GeForce2 MX video card that does not fully support open GL, so i am stuck in wireframe mode. I am going to upgrade to a better Video card soon and i wanted to be sure that it will be fully compatable w/ Vue4. So I was hoping that I could get a little feedback to see what kind of card everyone has, and if you can use open GL or not. Thanks

Hi guitarzan and welcome here. I'm not sure that the "best" video cards are the best for Vue. I have a "some years old" Nvidea Riva TNT 64 and open GL works great. Since Vue 4 is out, I heared alot about different GeForce cards and many users complained that they don't work with Vue. I cannot tell you more about it, just my own experience. :-)Guitta

I would think that just about any card on the market today would probably work with Vue seeing as all the newer cards support Open GL onchip. I would highly recommend the most ram you can get, not only on the card but in your system as well!

Open GL works for me. I don't experience to many problems anymore. My video card is a VisionTek Xstacy Ti200 6564. However, I did have to update the Detonator driver to v23.11 for OpenGL to work with Windows XP.

My preference goes to ATI. I've got an old Rage Magnum on my computer and OpenGL works just fine. I saw a Radeon 7500 works and it was OK too. If you have extra bucks, you could try a Radeon 8500 w/ 128 Mo RAM...

Personal experience : Vue worked well with OpenGL and GeForce only after I switched to windows 2000. If you have XP, that should work too.

I recently transferred Vue from a Win98se box with an Asus Geforce (1) card to a Win2KPro box with a Gainward Geforce 3 card. Vue 4 worked fine with both but I did *not* use the manufacturer's drivers supplied with the cards. Always download the latest drivers from the nVidia site and you should get full OpenGL support in Vue. Happy rendering, Mark
