If you want to actually create UVMaps, you need the addon, Texture weapons, or DeepUV or whatever it is now. Deep Paint, especially with the UVMapping addon, is very powerful, has lots of features, but I found it a bear to use. Lot's of people get amazing work out of it though. Is the error message about UV coordinates out of range? If so, just tell UVMapper to fix it and it should work fine. I get this error a lot with objects from Lightwave, and it's never been a real problem. Regards- Lemurtek
yeah, that was the error. strange that I had to use the FREE Uvmapper to fix a $800 dollar programs maps. but anyhow... i found a tutorial here : http://www.ephemeralvisions.com/pv_to_ev/tutorial-dp3d-poser.htm although it only covers posette/single map figures. looks good, but i think the program may be overkill for what i want. thanks to everyone for replying anyhow :)
You can import pre-made uv templates easily. (I.e. use the standard Posette, Vicki, etc. templates.) Deep Paint 3D is wonderful for making complicated textures. I'm saving up my pennies to get it. I don't see a reason to get Texture Weapons as I have UVMapper Pro, though even UVMapper basic would take care of the need for Texture Weapons, from what I've seen.

this is poser related, so please bear with me.. i just downloaded the Deep Paint 3D2 demo, and it looks great. however, i have one (or two) questions: does DP make up its own UV maps, or use the ones contained in the obj file? reason i ask is, i don't want to spend hours painting a nice texture, only to find that Deep Paint has remapped the obj and now all my other textures won't work properly. another thing, i loaded the example object that comes with the demo (a head) into UVmapper and it said the obj contained a messed up map. are the two programs not compatable? i was looking for a poser-related tutorial, but i can't find one anywhere. i don't want to blow my budget on this program if it doesn't work (i'd rather buy UVmapper Pro and use my good old PSP). anyone using it? does it work? any good?
