Ok, I know I've been whining alot lately about my render to disk problems. Someday I'll stop but at this rate it doesn't seem like it's going to be anytime soon. I updated 4.03 to 4.06. I rendered a scene that I've been working on lately and instead of the 100% render to disk freeze, I'm now freezing up at 99%!! Here's the error I get and the information in the lower left corner of the screen. I also wasn't able to render to disk if I wanted to save the alpha or depth channel, which I was able to do with 4.03. It does let me recover the color picture after the freeze and also I can shut down Vue normally with out cntrl, alt, delete. Scene is rendered in final mode with 72ppi at 3200 X 1800 res, no volumetric lights. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

By the way I do have 6 gigs free on my harddrive so this "available disk space" thing I don't think is a problem.

I used to have a similar problem with version 4.00. I was able to fix it by applying a Microsoft patch. I use Win98 SE. I can't remember the name, but it had something to do with mapped drives. Apparently, Win98 was shutting them down after a period of inactivity. Look for the phrase "mapped drives" in the Windows update area. It could help.

This message is sure very interesting for e-onsoftware. Send it to them and also write your computer cpu, system, memory, free disk space... Guitta

I've found in the past that it's a direct x problem droyd... I used Norton Win Doctor and that fix the direct x problem that was not permitting the render to disk problem...

My program sometimes crashes when I try to end it by clicking the cross in the upper right corner of my Vue window. If I sometimes switch fast from one sample Vue scene to another, the program crashes (Win2k, clean Vue 4 + full update 4.06, 512 ram PIII 1000, MS certified video drivers) But what the heck, I still didn't find a Vue user that didn't had a Vue 4 crash in the last 10 months LOL

Blowfish, do you know a person who never had a crash with Windows in the last 10 month? (LOL)

Gebe, you're still in the denial phase LOL And by the way; it's says enough about your knowledge to compare an operating system with a landscape program. Why don't you compare Vue d'Esprit with Cinema 4D....Nah, forget it, that's too bad for your stomach.
