Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 08 9:27 am)
My Poser folder is so large (approaching 5 Gigs) that I am seriously considering deleting all my figures that are Poser4, 3, 2 &1 native, and most of their clothes and hair too. I'm using PoserProPack and I rarely ever use Poser4 people because of all the Millennium characters I own. I keep a copy of Poser4.0.3 for creating facial expressions and poses for P4, so I do have all those people in that folder. I'm just thinking it might help PPP work a little better without all those unused files and models clogging up the finder. Any thoughts?
Its a good idea Alleycat, just be aware that you need the low res figures for the walk designer if you use it. Also you can get rid of the associated textures, and OBJs. If disk space is a concern consider these, as you have ProPack: Convert .BUMS to JPEGs (you will need to edit MAT files and characters though, so only do this if you have the patience of Ron Knights). Paintshop Pro does it. Saved 700Mb in a similar sized Runtime. Run the Python "compress files" script. Particularly on PZ3s , CR2s and PP2s. Saved 550Mb in the props folder alone, reduced my main 17Mb Victorias to 2.5 Mb each Go through the geometries folder and delete any RSRs lurking around, Poser Propack doesn
t use them. Create MAT and Body and Face poses for any Michael/Victoria variants you dont use very often. Be aware of what uses specialised morphs though, they don
t transfer in a Pose file unless the morph is present. Consider moving folders out of Runtime and only adding them in as you need them, messy but it makes access for individual projects simpler. A last resort really. Hope some of this is useful. Mark

You know how it goes. You have so many blessed folders that you can't see or find anything. I had to give up on PBoost, until Hogwarden finds some miracle cure for the problems with Windows XP. So I did the next best thing: trickery! We've been told many times before that you can put Pose files into the Camera Library (just rename *pz2 to *cm2). I have to tell you that sounds so "un-natural," but I did it. Yarp's P3DO Explorer and Pattern Renamer did the job well. Thanks again Yarp. For some reason P3DO Explorer crashed every time I touched any Adventurer MATS.. and only those two folders! This was a massive job, spanning over two different days. I already tried one converted poze/camera.. It worked. Wow, now I have a bit more space in my Pose library! Ron
