Some of you may have downloaded my "Valandar's Vanity" character for Mike 2, in Freestuff several weeks ago. Well, I got a friend to take several digital photographs of my face, and pieced them together, and blended them a bit, to make a semi-photoreal (but definitely accurate) texture of my face, to go with it. The link above is to the end result, which is actually frightening. I have yet to do the lacrimal, eyeballs, or ears, let alone any part of the Body Map (which will NOT include the genitals! >8( )... so tell me, should I go ahead and do something more with this? Finish it, and do a matching body tex? Or perhaps just set it aside for personal use...

To speak totally objectively, you have an interesting face, with nice bones. Serious artists would love to have another face which is different from Michael, and has lots of character. However, there are crazies in this world. There is a difference between bravery and foolhardiness... even though we are no longer superstitious about our likeness in the hands of others, it is still a bothersome idea deep in the niggly corners of the brain. OTOH, Dan's face is on Michael. :🤷: BTW, you did a great job. The forehead and brows look like they were flipped, so you might want to differentiate them a bit. It is very real. Carolly

'nuff said. Sorry.

Valandar, You have an interesting face. I can only say that sometimes we don't like the results when we see our own faces or bodies, "big as life" somewhere else. I shudder at the idea of other people having my likeness in Poser. It's like being a "live barbie doll." But then I don't think anyone would be interested in my likeness. Congratulations for the work you've done.

I think you should follow up on it & finish. It would be a true giving of 'yourself' to the community. If you don't have a problem w/ppl having your whole likeness to do with what they please. The character itself is unique & it's actually neat to know I have one of someone I'm acquainted with. And, even though there would be a Valandar texture - it could surely be applied to many Michael variations, not just Valandar's Vanity, eh? We would, however, have to get over not having the full 'package' snicker ;P

Valandar, just think of yourself walking about without "the full package." That gives me the willies.... Thinking of myself with that problem. Just remember another thing. If someone gets mad at you they can literally take it out on you. Just imagine the vile, painful things one might do with your likeness. Ooooh.

I'm sure Val is secure enough of himself in the real world to not even worry about the cyber world.

  1. Czarivitch: Your comment before it was edited was extremely rude. I saw it as a direct personal attack against Valandar. I wished I saved it but Im sure the mods should be able to view that comment even after it was modified. I hope that you will be recieving the tos violation warning soon. 2) Valandar: Wow!! When I helped you work on Iryana I learned how hard it is to actually make a nice face texture. Here you have captured your likeness right down to the pores. Simply amazing work. 3) And now for the question at hand: Yes, you should continue working on the texture. As for sharing it with the community thats your choice. Just keep in mind you might not like all the virtual situations your likeness can and may be used for. Not only here at this community but in other communties & other places on the net as well.

Wow, Valandar, that looks excellent! If you're up to it, yes, go to, finish it!

Okay, here's what I'm probably going to do, then... 1) Finish the head texture with the photos I have available 2) Try to get the digicam again so I can make the body tex. Or a close fascimile thereof. 3) Make up my mind whether I want to put it into Freestuff, or make all sorts of variations (including a Drow variant), and a few poses, and put it into the Marketplace as a low-cost texture...
