Hey guys, I was BetaNews.com and there was a download for a new shareware 3D program, MilkShape3D. It's really kinda neat, it's about 2 megs or so to download. It imports AND EXPORTS into OBJ, 3DS, LWO, DXF, and Unreal, Quake and Half-Life formats. It's kinda like 3DSMax, in look, feel, and function, sorta. Might be a good option for a cash strapped 3D developer. It can also make animations. It's by Chumbalumsoft. Just thought I'd let you guys know about it.

I've got a challenge for you ... I am running two low end computers. a P133, with Poser and Bryce (No room for anything else on the 540 hd) and a Mac I use for everything else, (a Quadra 800, 68k machine) I need a small free/shareware modeling program to do little things to add to Bryce and Poser untill I can upgrade and get Rhino. Any suggestions? Thanks Boni

Take a look at Amapi for the Mac or PC. The interface is weird and it took me a bit to get used to it but the demo is more or less fully functional. Once you get used to it you can realy fly creating amazing things. Lots of tutorials on the web too. WWW.tgs.com jje

Boni, Check out http://www.anim8or.com. It is small and freeware. I use it for lathing stuff as that is all I know how to do as far as modelling goes. Hope this helps. Gail

I tried it and it won't export to any file types that Poser or Bryce will recognize, unless they changed that recently. It's nice, but it doesn't export to OBJ or 3DS, or even DXF

Hi Nick, Anim8or exports to 3ds and dxf....not sure about obj. They must have upgraded it. Gail

Ooops...I just checked, it exports to .3ds, .obj and .lwo. No .dxf, go figure. Gail
