...damn these places beautiful. Did some photoshopping, original pic is full(dull) daylight shot. And that glow from windows is really easy to do with PS. .n

So, when can I move in?

PunkClown ( ) posted Thu, 02 May 2002 at 1:00 AM

Good photo Niko, and those windows are great!

wonderfully shot and effectively photoshopped too :) I will admit, a color version would be nice too.... hint?

Antoonio ( ) posted Thu, 02 May 2002 at 5:41 AM

BonHon'. The color version is really dull. .n

The b&w one is much more mysterious and the light is super...

COOL! I take it from the industrial items this building is still in use? I have a friend at work who is into videography rather than stills who apparently knows of some derelict warehouses / factories. We're gonna have a scout around in the near future, so hopefully I'll have more to add to my collection. People like Phrank and yourself are just giving me even more push to get out there and get this done! (",)

That building is used as storage for industrial thingies. And if you have a change to get to places like that, go. Shoot as much you can, because with photoshop, you can do majic. And I bet you're gonna get fantastic pics for your montages too. .n

Love the windows in this shot.....the b&w definitely gives a feeling of mystery....but I can see some great looking colors in there such as the barrels and bricks that have great potential for color images.

I am, therefore I create.......

I agree with gunsan, the B&W (to me) is more mysterious. If your scan is big enough, I'd like to see a crop of just the windows. They're cool.

Phrank. Here you go. The thing I did with windows, I selected all those white areas with magic wand tool, copied areas to new layer, used _heavy_ gaussian blur, adjusted transparency a bit and voila, realistic glow. Ok, it might be bit too strong in this closer pic, but you got the idea(too lazy to adjust the glow now). .n

Aha, I found them! :-) What a wonderful old place, those windows are just flat out awesome, and much better in b&w! (And I'm going to have to remember how you did them)

Antoonio, those do look fine! Something else I did on my windows was to first wand an additional layer and choose the multiply layer option. That brought out the windowpanes that were covered up some due to the overexposure of the bright window light. So, in other words, it restored the contrast around the windows. Then, do what you did with the blur. I use that to restore overexposed portions in photographs, and find it works really well. BTW, the brewery shots DID have some PS work done, but mostly to make up for bad light, and to bring out better what was already there. A touch of color dodge to the darker areas really woke the images up.
