Just trying out a new texture... this one is good because the lips line up better than a lot of my previous textures..

Ikyoto ( ) posted Wed, 02 February 2000 at 7:41 AM

It's the corners of the eyes that do it. really nice.

Beautiful! It reminds me Catherine Z. Jones. AL

Tim, there is absolutely NO MORE room in your texture file on my HD--sorry G. (Actually, I'll be tickled when you put this up--I like the eyes especially-they are just beautiful). I just have one suggestion--for you and other texture makers. Most textures just don't map well over the eyebrows. Diane TG's karynsansmakeup (and I guess her Freckles) seem to map well because they are 'hairy', if that makes sense. Is this one going up soon? Diane B

tlaubach ( ) posted Wed, 02 February 2000 at 10:03 AM

Thanks Diane... That tip on the eyebrows was just the thing... I think that these brows map better now than they did... although I kept the initial version in case I'm mistaken... so anyway: the texture can be found: here

happyworldland_1569_8159381 [it's "p4 woman 08c9.jpg" for those of you playing along at home] The model used for the thumbnail is actually just Ruth with the new texture.. shrug you'd never know it, huh?

WUNDERBAR!!!!!!! I LOVE it--can't wait to use it but I'm supposed to be working now (aren't we all he, heee, heee?!?)--and isn't it always amazing how different textures look with different hair color, different lighting (and different model too, I'm guessing). I notice you are using Grey's hair. I haven't unzipped it yet--is it difficult to use (say, different than the Kyoko hair, for example)? I was reading just a bit of Darrin's (I think) comments about it. Diane B

Oooops, just noticed you DID say it was another model. That's what happens when you don't 'absorb' the whole post. Diane B

I absolutly love your textures but I have a problem saving them in Netscape it only lets me save as html. So I wind up closing Netscape and opening IE and then I have no problems, but that brings up an interesting thing netscape has small letters and IE has big letters( I feel like I am reading one of those books for sight impaired my Dad used to read) just an observation. Marge

tlaubach ( ) posted Wed, 02 February 2000 at 11:28 AM

when you save in Netscape.... just type in the .jpg extention...

quesswho ( ) posted Wed, 02 February 2000 at 12:57 PM

OOOHHHH! as I smack myself in the head( and not the bathroom for you nautical types) Marge

picnic ( ) posted Wed, 02 February 2000 at 1:53 PM

Tim--that has always worked for me but I had problems (I use Netscape 4.6). I changed the extension to .jpeg and I could open it as a .jpeg in PSP but Poser refused to 'see' it. I tried a variety of ways--saved as .jpeg, renamed, rebooted, etc. I'm not sure what that was all about, but finally opened my old IE3.12 and saved as a .jpeg. BTW, had problems with Grey's hair. It will kind of 'revert' maps, etc. I had to go back twice and reset the maps to the parts. Also--don't get complete transparency (in the dark, for instance, there is some of the object showing as not quite transparent particularly in the front left of the figure) unless I set one of the other trans sliders (my slider 'names' disappeared when I reinstalled Poser LOL, so am not sure which is which of the 'others' any more without looking in the manual). And--I don't get that nice hairline--I tried moving the hair on the Y axis a bit and that seemed to help but it isn't as nice looking as yours. Any thoughts? Diane B

tlaubach ( ) posted Wed, 02 February 2000 at 2:06 PM

have you tried calling the files ".jpg" instead of ".jpeg"? just one thought.. anyway... here is what I've learned about Grey's hair.. first of all.. if you're going to work on it make sure that you DON'T have the checkbox checked where you apply one texture to the whole object since different materials are mapped with different files... also by default the hair is scaled to 103% in X, Y, & Z... I scaled them back down to 100% each.. Hmm.. I did go through and make sure that the min and max transparency were both set to 100% too... (for each of the materials on the hair object)... hope that helps!

picnic ( ) posted Wed, 02 February 2000 at 2:10 PM

It does--yes, I found that you couldn't have the apply to whole object checked. I noticed that the scaling was higher--I'll try that (rescaling to 100%). I'll also try the .jpg thingie also. Maybe that was what I did before G. Diane B

Me either-as to the blonde. Mine is quite darkish. Thanks for the tip, Allie--I just looked in my manual to refresh myself as to the 'names' of the sliders (as I said, both times I reinstalled Poser, I lost the titles of the sliders--strange, but true G) and the falloff is set just a tad 'up' and I found I had to use both Max and Min to get full transparency. I wonder if Tim took his texture map into PS and adjusted color (which I have done with the Kyoko hair, esp. for my redheads--and then I just saved a 'red' texture also). Diane B
