One thing I've found that helps most of the time; As soon as the message pops up, save the file to a new name and shut down C. When you restart Carrara 9 times out of 10 the file will open up without a problem (at least on my pc). I can get a "render failed message" everytime I use the z-buffer render mode on my older pc with a matrox card. Does not seem to hurt the file. mdc
I finally finished the pic...after multiple restarts, a switch from xp to 2000, many file re-saves and work via coordinates instead of visually. I guess it just got pushed to the limit or something, i dunno, i never saw it before even though ive had carrara since it premiered. Thanks alot for your suggestions, i appreciate them. The pic is in my gallery if you want to take a peak.

Well apparently Carrara has some limitations. I was working on an interior pic of a mall and came to discover that carrara began having errors in its 4 viewports. They all blank out and say Rendering Error where it normally displays the viewport name. I'm guessing its memory limits or poly limits...im really not sure. Anyone know anything about this? For reference, i have an Athlon T-Bird 900 and 384 RAM Thanks all.
