Subject: a little help please....

BailMan ( ) posted Sun, 05 May 2002 at 8:24 AM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 10:27 AM

hey everyone. I'm pretty new here, and I was wondering if I could ask for some advice. I recently purchased a copy of Poser 4, with which I hope to make a great number of characters, only I don't know where to start. I have all my settings (Dystopia) was perfect, but I need a variety of clothing, hair (male and female), and (very important) facial hair. I also want to acheive this at as little cost as possible (preferably free), i have been sifting through the free stuff pages on this site, but just cant find what i need. Does anyone know any sites that could come in useful for this situation? Please reply.

There are very much sites that offer free models. A place to start is off Course Renderosity AND not to forget the sites that are in the renderosity webrings. Other sites: http://www.dtemachine.com/ http://209.92.41.204/Poser/dlframe.html http://www.greylight.com/ To name a few There are also many complete resource site that offer information about free download sites for many packages, like: www.3dcafe.com www.3dtotal.com www.3dgate.com www.3dup.com/home_b.shtml To name a few of these But it helps if you posted what kind of clothing, hair and facial hair you are looking for. Regards, Excorsist

hey thanks a lot for that, i agree i was pretty vague in the first message but this was my first time posting here, and i didn't know what the reply success rate was. I would be looking for baggy's (somthing i have been having serious trouble finding) especially t-shirts, all i can seem to find are textures for the tight tucked-in tees. Male hair would be messy short hair, female hair is unimportant, anything could work. And I'm looking for any links for facial hair, as i am having serious trouble finding them too. again, thanks for your help, any more help would be greatly appreciated. Jim

How much facial hair do you need. You can actually put it on the tex map. I you find John on the runs site he has a super tex map with beard which I use all the time. Sorry can't remember his URL, but someone is bound to know. And its free.

found it on altavista, thanks for the tip. Anyone got any files for baggy jeans, or loose tees they want to share? or point me in the direction to one on the net? I would make the textures myself, i just need the files as designing them is not my thing (in other words... i dont know how :D) thanks again..

Baggy clothing is going to be exceptionally difficult to find because of the limits of the programs - extremely loose clothing doesn't work that well in Poser 4. Might have to wait for Poser 5 for that.

well, i wouldnt be talking extremely loose, just not as tight as the clothing given with the programs... i've seen it on some pics... its the tee's im mostly after, one's that arn't tucked into the guys pants, y'know? anyway, I'll prob be on again tomorrow... thanks for the help everyone. Jim

i found some baggy jeans in freestuff awhile ago and i like them very much. i found the readme file and it has no information of the artist. (try to search njean20) if you like these and they are not available any longer, maybe i could send them to you since this is what the creator stated in the readme file: THIS IS AMERICA - USE THE PANTS ANY WAY YOU LIKE made specifically for subtle standing poses. if the mags apply to the figure go to that body part and set all mag dials to 0. the pants conform fine but its much better to apply a pose to it - there's enough room in there the legs have freedom to bend a little inside. NJEAN20.ZIP read me quick this NJEAN20.pz3 njean20 poser file mjeanstx.jpg pants texture NJEANiUS_fiNAL.jpg sample render NJEAN20.jpg sample render

I know you're looking mostly for free stuff, but for messy casual hair styles you might think about investing in some of Neftis's models in the marketplace here. I have the Casual Hair for Mike and have seen a number of renders with some of her other models in the Galleries, and they are well worth the asking price, by my lights.

For hair you should definitely go to Kozaburo's site!

And Daz of course :)

BailMan ( ) posted Sun, 05 May 2002 at 4:02 PM

that's brilliant, thanks alot everyone, now all im looking for is a t-shirt thats not tucked into the guys jeans... get me? I'm writing a picture novel based in Dystopia (or Detroit :D) and it won't have animation in it, so those jeans are perfect, i owe you one. So if anyone has a link for a plain t-shirt (not tucked in, ill sort out the texture myself) it would seriously make my day.. Again thanks alot. Jim

I've only seen baggy women's t's not mens. For the smallest outlay of cash, and the most benefit--especially if you are sticking to Poser 4 people, not Millenium-- I would recommend a subscription to PWFW. Tons and tons of textures and scenes for the built in characters in Poser4-- furniture, backgrounds, you name it. You get at least ten times your initial payment, which is relatively low. With that and Renderocity's free stuff and Maybe Lannie's 3D model world, you're pretty much set. Oh, also check out Runtime DNA for the free Infinity Cove Backdrop prop, plus castles and lots more in the freebie area. Most of what they have is for Millenium figures but hats can always be resized and they have a great cowboy hat. Lannie's link is over to the right on Web Ring Top 15. DO check out Kozabura's free hair--he is working on more for the male characters, but all of his hair can be resized and has P4 standard female fits. PoserWorld can be found in any good search engine. And our Free stuff has an amazing variety of wonderful and useful things. Emily

Bailman, I don't know if our site will help you, but we do have a lot of free models also if you would like some. Most are all poseable. Sharen we have 5 pages of models, so sift through if interested
