In light of dusentrieb's comments, I'm gonna try posting again. Hope it works this time. Peter (Dr Zik)

Hi Folks! As previously noted, I'm not having any success posting images to the Forum or attached to a message. I tried again tonight. No image is showing--not on my browser and apparently not on anyone else's. Perhaps the problem was solved for dusentrieb but it still doesn't work for me. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Why is it that my post is not showing? (:-( Peter (Dr Zik)

Are you putting a url in the upload image part of the form? If you are. Don't. Just click the browse button and find the picture on your hard drive and select it. Then submit your message. This forum software pulls the image right off your HD and you don't need to type in any html to do it. It's unusual to not have to type in a URL. But I like it. ScottA

Also, something about Netscape and bitmaps. make sure you're using a jpeg or other such image. -Darth_Logice

Darth--actually the Windows version of IE is the only browser I know of that uses the BMP format, since both are propietary MS formats. P.S. and MS's Mac version of IE doesn't display BMP formatted pics either.

BMP is not supossed to be supported by ANY browser. It's not part of the W3C specifications. Of course all browsers are supposed to support PNG as of 3-4 years ago (when 4.0 came out and GIF became a proprietary and sue-able offense to use.) and that's not quite happened either... You get splotchy somewhat random results using PNGs.

Oh, the page claims his image is: http://www.renderosity.com/photos/Message68916.jpg So he did, in theory; use a JPG.

zik, did you use photoshop on the mac to make that jpg? there seems to be a problem with how it writes out its jpg images.

jje ( ) posted Fri, 04 February 2000 at 7:44 AM

no so fur, I'm on a Mac exclusively and have had no problem with Photoshop jpgs. I'd first suspect a case-sensitivity problem. Whenever I mess up here it is because I aint keeping my capitols in line. on the other hand wanna see sumthin interesting? Type in the above URL from arcady but change .jpg to .JPG jje
