Subject: Opinion...?

Hi everyone. I kinda just lurk around here, and post images occasionally. The other day, I posted a shot taken over the weekend, and somebody had suggested posting a color version of it. So, here it is: levels slightly tweaked, a tad desaturated (dang fuji!) and slightly oversharpened. Also the following disclaimer: I dont usually shoot this kind of stuff, it just jumped out at me though. Take care, Jerry P.S. Thanks to everyone who has commented on/rated my photos, it really helps!

hey j..you talented photo/2d artist you....man, what i really dig about this pic is that wall....the blue with that dark ass red rust on it really gets my juices flowing....

Thanks R, actually it's a metal chair though. I did grab a shot of the whole chair, but it was not very dynamic or interesting at all. Sorry, hope I wasn't misleading =)

i really like the color since it makes the textures of the rust and the peeling paint stand out even more... congrats to being potw... wtg

I prefer this one in colour, it seemed a little obscure in b&w, the wonderful colours in this really bring out the textures & make a great image. Congrats from me too, I've really enjoyed your work in the gallery.

that blue part with the rust is a chair you say? Actually thats one of the more interesting parts of this image....especially the bottom right were the the rust streaks...the object doesnt quite do it for me except for its cracked paint? texture patterns...that does fascinate me though...somehow...someway....

Cool, I can the bad with the good. It seems I should have included more of the chair in the picture or tried a different angle, as two have comment on it as something else, my bad. Personally, I thought it interesting because of the fact that the textures clashed, but I agree with the lack of focal point. Thanks everyone for the opinions, even the negative. take care.

Personally I see this image as being about texture & the fact that it is a chair seems irrelevant, seeing more of it might even detract from the interesting texture. Maybe it does need more of a focal point though.

I think it is about color and texture. And I like the over-sharpening.

It's absolutely beeeeautiful, Jhazard! The exposure is extremely well done, colors look incredibly beautiful. Very nice....well done! =)

Thanks for indulging me Jerry....I really like it in color and I think Crystalwiz's suggestion on composition would probably work really well for this image. We had a big discussion ages ago on what was better for showing textures....b&w or color.....in this case I think the color version works better. I'm also a saturation junkie when it comes to color and I think you could have done a little less desaturation on this, letting the yellow paint and blue rusty wall sing a bit more. But that's just me and my own preferences.... :~) Personal preferences aside this really is a great photo...thanks for sharing it.

Where have I been and why have I missed your images? (kidnapped by aliens?) This shows I have to take more time to cruise the galleries properly. This image really works for me...and question: does every image have to have a focal point to work? Sometimes I like abstract shapes and textures! Nice stuff jhazard! :-)>

That's just like those people who think that every image has to "say something".....since when? Can't I just sit back and veg out in the beauty of it.......?

I think this is great - ive always loved texture, its a fave in photographs for me! Your work is great, and id just like to say that i thought texture was all about contrast and clashing? Well in my mind thats the way it should be. Lovely image, and i like the colours too. xXxXx
