ABC will air the new mini-series 'Dinotopia' this weekend. And for a dinosaur lover like me; I can hardly wait. Here's another free poseable dino available for downloading. As soon as I see the T.V. shows. I'll see If I can make the armour and hardware for my dino's so Dinotopia pics can be made by Poser users. ScottA

Thanks Scott. Great work on this.

melanie ( ) posted Tue, 07 May 2002 at 8:00 PM

Wonderful, that looks great. Thank you. And also, thanks for reminding me that it's this weekend. I completely forgot about it. I saw a commercial several months ago for it, and, since I don't buy TV Guide regularly, I would have missed it.

Scott, did you happen to work on Dinotopia? If not, maybe you should have. ^_^

Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!

Thanks Scott, nice to see you getting back into making those cool Dinosaurs of yours, always a favourite of mine. Ta muchly. :)

ScottA ( ) posted Tue, 07 May 2002 at 8:31 PM

I wish Valandar. That would be a dream come true. I'm not having any luck finding work of any kind. So grab my free stuff while you can, before I disappear to the local homeless shelter. ScottA

Nice. But I also wanted to let you know that all your images just show the fortune city image? Thanks.

Scott, I think I've said it before, but I'l say it again :o) I love your Dinos and Monsters.

Very nice ScottA & thanks again for those cool models. Hope you can find some work soon.

Nice work on the Parasaurolophus. Those things were supposed to have a resonating cavity in the head extension to produce loud low-frequency sounds. It looks like that Dinotopia show will be pretty good - no nude Vickies, but plenty of good 3D animations.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Wed, 08 May 2002 at 2:31 AM

Scott, Why do you need to see the TV version? It all started with a picture book by Jim Gurney (a really sweet guy and great artist). You can probably get it from the library and prop it next to the computer. Good luck finding work! {hugs} Carolly

scott you rock..... told you that before and will keep saying so... thanks for the models....

BazC ( ) posted Wed, 08 May 2002 at 4:14 AM

These are amazing Scott! I didn't know about your site, thanks very much! What's the problem with the Styracosaurus? Will it become available again? I'd love to get it. Baz

melanie ( ) posted Wed, 08 May 2002 at 7:46 AM

I just love your dinos! I do hope you get a job soon, but in the meantime, is there any chance you might eventually create a pteranodon to go with the collection? That's one I've been looking for. There's already one out there, but it's not the best. I know you could do a much better one. Just something for you to think about. I would have a very good use for one. Melanie

Baz, My host has reduced the file size limits for files allowed on my site. I'm currently reworking the Styracosaurus making the files much smaller. And I should have it posted by the weekend. Melanie, I might eventually do a Pteranodon. Can you post a picture here of the one you currently have. And point out what you don't like about it, so I can get an idea what it is you want? ScottA

Scott, here's the one I have. I got him a couple of years ago and I'm not even sure who originated it. Somehow the name Mitch comes to mind. As you can see, the wings don't fully connect with the body and the feet look shriveled up and too small. It's not completely hideous, but I know you could do one that's more realistic. I would be thrilled if there was a realistic ptero to work with. Melanie

nyar1ath0tep ( ) posted Wed, 08 May 2002 at 9:26 PM

Was that from Mitch's 3dSeite? I think he had to close it down due to piracy.

cooler ( ) posted Wed, 08 May 2002 at 10:10 PM

this is from the ptero readme file... "This Pteranodon is not my model. I adjusted all the joint parameters, texture mapped it and did some major reworking of the whole thing, but I can't take all the credit. I got this poser figure from Mehdi (xeops@hotmail.com), who got the model from someone named Mitch. There are still problems with the legs, but I can live with it. If you make a better texture (didn't really have the time to do a good one), please post it on Renderosity.com. Anything else? Oh yea, if you want to ask for permission to do something with it, don't ask me (see above). Hope you like it and can use it.... Xanxost (xanxost@yahoo.com)" according to the timestamp on the file I installed it Feb 8, 2000

Thanks for the picture. I'll see what I can do. I started working on this Ornithocheirus model a few months ago after watching "Walking with Dinosaurs" but I never finished it. I should be able to use it to make a pteranadon. ScottA

bikermouse ( ) posted Thu, 09 May 2002 at 1:06 AM

Scott: I downloaded a couple of your dinos and they look great. The other poser characters look nervous around them though ... I hope thing work out.

melanie ( ) posted Thu, 09 May 2002 at 7:47 AM

You know, I got this pteranodon so long ago, I don't even remember where I got it from. It's been on an old floppy for years and I've never really used it because it wasn't really up to what I wanted. I think the protrusion on the back of the head doesn't look right, either. When I really look at this one, it starts to look a little cartoony after a while. Maybe because the head is slightly too large or something. At any rate, it was never really useful for what I wanted it for. Anyone who could do a more realistic one would be very appreciated. Scott, I know you're a master at dinos, so I had always hoped you could do one. Melanie

The Styracosaurus is back on-line. My web host has a one meg. file size limit, so it's a challenge to make this stuff small enough to post. That page is looking kinda plain. I might change it a little so it's more interesting looking for young kids. ScottA
