Subject: how do I get my RSR's back??

DreamstoGo ( ) posted Wed, 08 May 2002 at 7:43 AM · edited Tue, 05 November 2024 at 12:36 PM

I accidently opened a "RSR" with wordpad, with the "always use this program" option selected.I was going to edit a CR2 but selected the rsr file my mistake. All my RSR files went from the wavy "windows" icon flag to the Blue word pad flag. I want to change them back to windows wavy flag icon. I know I can by deleting the rsrs, but I would have to do every character one at a time. Is there a way to do them all at once by using the "always use this Option " to open with. what program selection would I use to change them all back at once? thanks...

deleting RSR didn't help.when Poser just created the new RSR, it still put the blue word pad icon in the directory. :o(

I would assume it's because you associated that format with WordPad. Is there a way to "unassociate" them with WordPad? Did this change the actual files at all? Do they still show in Poser correctly? If so, then you don't really have a problem. Did you try reinstalling them? Melanie

First go to Control Panel, open Folder Options, then click file types, then find the RSR file, scroll to the bottom, click it once, then at the bottom click change another box will open and ask you to pick the program you want it to be associated with. Sharen

Sharen, thats the question, what program do I associate it with to give it the windows wavy flag Icon back? Melanie, everything still works and shows, but it's going to be annoyong to have all my RSRS from now to eternity show up as word documents..... back at midnight

delete rsr from the known file types under folder options, if it is listed. Windows then doesn't know the file type and would then prompt you the next time you clicked on an rsr. As far as I know it shouldn't have any association under windows because its not a file windows needs to be opening. zerowolf

when you go to change it, it the box look for the icon that it use to represent, I am not sure what Icon you are looking for without seeing it. Go to that box anyway and look at the icons, they should be right next to the associated file name. Sharen

....do EXACTLY what zerowolf said...... the wavy flag means that there is no program associated with it. Just delete it from the list. Beav

I think, if it's the rsr for the geometry file, if you delete it, it will just create a new one. But as far as the rsr in the libraries, I don't know if that will work. I think it will end up deleting your thumbnails, or am I wrong here? I'm so nontechnical it's pathetic. :) Melanie

It's not the rsr's themselves, but the file association in windows. For example which program opens when you click on a file of that type. There isn't an association for rsr's normally, because clicking on an rsr normally generates the "which program do you wish to open file with" box. The problem is DreamstoGo associated them with wordpad and needs to reset it back to the normal default wavy windows flag. Like when you click on a .doc file, microsoft word opens up, with an rsr there is no program registered because they aren't meant to be used except internally in poser.

Open the RSR File with the RSR converter. You can find the RSR Converter in the free stuff. Havi

thx for your help, my folder options for control panel wouldn't show a "list" for win 98, zerowolf told me how ok are you using windows 98?, if so go to "my computer", click view, then select "folder options", from there it is exactly the same. Scroll down to the entry that you should have for rsr, highlight it and click remove. thx for your help...
