Subject: Ahhh! new patch sucks!!

ScottA ( ) posted Thu, 03 February 2000 at 10:22 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 4:05 AM

I just installed the new patch. The one off the Scarab site. And the ability to save more than one figure and props to the library is GONE!! I loved that. Why did they take it out? Thank god I saved patch #116 from Larry's site. Is that patch older than larry's patch? is there a patch for this patch. Or a patch for the patch for the patch. ;-). ScottA

I went back to good old original P4. The version number bug was making life hell. :(

This is getting confusing! I hope the Beta-testing process doesn't continue much longer.

Larry's version #116 rocked. Being able to save everything to the library was awesome. Warning: If you have patch #116. Don't delete it. You'll regret it. ScottA

Was that the first one he posted?

ScottA ( ) posted Thu, 03 February 2000 at 10:34 PM

No. It was the last one he posted. ScottA

I haven't tried any of them yet. How did/does the ability to save everything to the library work? Multiple figures to one library entry?

Thanks Scott.

Thanks for the info! I am going to have to burn a CD with 4.02.116 on it for future use! Eric Walters

Well. Now after trying to install #116 over this one. I still can't save props with a figure to the library. And although I can save clothing that's been applied to the figure in the library again. I still can't save two figures to the library and have it open again with both figures. I'm going to delete and reinstall poser again. Then only use patch #116 and see what happens. I could be wrong about this folks and I don't want to push the panic button too hard. Just hang on to the old patches you have just to be safe. ScottA

After hearing about the problems with the hair in one of the patches (116a?) I stuck with Patch 115 and so far (touch wood) I've had zero problems with it. Paul

This is exactly why I'm waiting until the 'final' G. I'm just not 'savvy' enough with this program to keep fighting all the problems with each patch. At least I KNOW what my problems are now. Still--I'm really glad he's doing this--just not going to mess with betas. I'll let all you 'hard core' types do it LOL. Diane B

Could someone who has installed the latest patch see if you can properly open old saved P4 files (prior to any patch)that has a P4 female figure (e.g. Greta) wearing the running shoes. With patches 115, 116, and 116a when I read in old P4 files the running shoes fly off and cannot be properly reattached. Even if you delete the shoes and reload them they still won't work. This problem does not exist if you create the figure and attach the shoes post patch then save and open.

Scott, I think you already pushed the panic button a bit too hard ;-) -JH.

ScottA ( ) posted Fri, 04 February 2000 at 11:13 AM

Yea. I think you're right jeff. I wanted to get everyone's attention and warn them to save their old patches. And I think I went overboard ;-). Good thing I'm not the president with access to the Nuke Button Huh? ;-) ScottA

Eric Walters ( ) posted Fri, 04 February 2000 at 11:30 AM

No Nukes is good Nukes! I hope I saved .115-just went through an HD cleaning to get rid of excess! But I do suspect that Larry will fix the bugs. He has fixed a ton already! regards, Eric

ScottA ( ) posted Fri, 04 February 2000 at 11:37 AM

Well. In this case. I think the bug was me ;-). You can save multiple figures and props to the library using the latest patch after all. You just have to parent or conform them to eachother. I didn't think I had to do that with patch #116. But now I think that's the way it's always been. Check Please <:-o ScottA
