Greetings to you all. I just joined up today, having been a visitor a few times recently. My question is this. I shoot digital pictures and then tweak them in photoshop(sometimes to extremes) in various ways. Some border on becoming line art of sorts, some just past "normal". I guess the question becomes where do I post them? Do they go in a PS venue or as they are all oringinally photos, do they go here? I just want to follow protocol being new here...Thanks and I really am amazed by your pictures. I hope my stuff fits in... Here's a sample...hope you like it! Jack

We have a very strong community in this forum, better than most at renderosity. Much of the people here are very personable with eachother. Many of the forum regulars post not only photography, but many different types of art, simply because we are very comfortable with one another, and enjoy eachothers thoughts and opinions along with our personalities. If you look through some of the past threads, and some of the galleries, you'll prolly find a few pieces of work that many people would say aren't photography. Seeing though as we are the photographers, we get to say what is and isn't photography, because it is our work. If you think something is photography, then it is (okay, nothing too extreemist, a nude vicki render in poser for where's shes putting a banana to good use is NOT photo, but im sure you get the idea). There is no "protocol" as you put it. Works of all types are welcome here, we just all happen to have photography as a common interest. ry

incidently, how'd you go about getting that effect in the above picture? It seems very nicely cel-shaded almost...

Howdy Jack! This question pops up every now and then...and I think the general consensus is you can just about post anything here in the forum, as this is an eclectic melting-pot of ideas and constructive critique. I like your Church windows pic, very photoshopped, but still recognisable as a photo..nice textures! Welcome! :-)>

Ahhh, I see the Slynkster already beat me to the answer! ;-)>

Yes, I like the effect, jac. We're pretty loose here about rules. We do like to tie it into photography in some way, but if someone is working on some other project it will usually get a good discussion here. Certainly what you've posted is appropriate here, or in the Photoshop Forum. We go back and forth; sometime you can actually get good answers to questions... Welcome.

Slynky, thanks for the reply! I guess the bottom line would be the enjoyment of photography. As for what direction the picture takes after being captured either on film or digital is a by-product as it were of the photographer's imagination. That is part of the reason that I joined in this group. To see and enjoy other folks pictures and to see where the imagination takes it. To me there is beauty in a simple picture of a flower or the flights of fantasy in a manipulated image. Hopefully, i will be inspired to try new techniques emplyed by the people in this group. Jack OBTW, the effect in the picture of the church was acheived by using a mild cutout filter, and following that up with the poster edge filter just a little to define the shapes a bit....

.....then there's the extreme minority of us that are so god-like and so far ahead in our thinking it almost saddens us to hang about here, but feel impelled to do so in order to lift the lives of the other mere mortals. Mike (",) (even if we do have to delete our post and re-post it coz we can't spell our own names right......lol)
