Subject: Just total confusion

Hi. I have Poser 3 which was a freebie with Computer Arts. I played around with it, done a few things but cant get any skins to work with it. I have also downloaded a number of skins but tell me that I need Victoria or Anna and others. Where do I get these from? Will they work with Poser 3? I might be aiming a little too high but some of the figures that I have seen are totally mindblowing and would love to be able to create something similar. Thanks for your help N Hewett

If you post this in the Poser forum, you'll have a dozen answers in no time.

the skins you would need I believe are the ones for posette possibly.. though not entirely sure how P3 works with textures in comparison to P4. As far a vick and etc.. goes .. P3 doesn't have the ability to use those higher end models .. P4 upgraded to P4.03 is what you would need.

The "skins" (or rather "textures" in Poser lingo) belong to the individual model and not directly to the Poser version - so any texture for the "P3 posette" will work with exactly this model in P3 and P4. However, P4 has the feature to have different textures for individual body parts (while P3 only has one global texture for the whole body) - so most P4 models require P4 and won't work suitable with P3.

Skins you need ? Who said that, just after after Micheleh ? Guess.

With a good photo app and a steady hand, one could take a P4 text (aka skin) or vicki/mike skin and make it fit a P3 figure. Poser4 has been out almost two years. Poser3 is a good way to find out the ropes and what the capabilities of Poser4 are. The biggest single change between Poser3 and 4 is that clothes separate from the figure have been added. In Poser3, clothes were part of the model.

There's also transparency effects and the grouping tool in P4. They didn't sound like a big deal to me at the time, but I couldn't live without them now.
